Episode Summary
The Shen family realizes Lin Yan has feelings for Shaoguang after he panics and rushes to her side. Fearing this will change history, her father decides they must move out immediately to keep them apart. When Lin Yan confronts Shaoguang about why she's avoiding him, she can't tell him the truth. Instead, she cruelly tells him she's just tired of him, leaving him heartbroken.

The Awkwardness Begins
A Modern Girl in an Ancient World
The episode kicks off with Shen Shaoguang selling candied hawthorn outside the restaurant. It’s a pretty normal sight for her. But Lin Yan shows up and he's completely fascinated. He says her whole family is like this. They talk and act like they’re from another time. He’s not wrong. He tells her he really likes it. He wants to always be close to them, like family.
This makes Shaoguang super uncomfortable. She knows getting too close is a bad idea. She makes an excuse to go back inside to work. As she turns to leave, Lin Yan grabs her arm. It’s just for a second. But she immediately yanks her arm away. The vibe is officially awkward.
The Shen Family Business
A School for Yangyang
The Shens are trying to find a school for Shen Yangyang. They look at a few places but aren't happy with any of them. Yangyang has her own idea. She wants to go to Hongwen Pavilion. This is a huge problem. Hongwen Pavilion is where all the princes and nobles send their kids. A commoner family like the Shens can’t just walk in. Also, the school has a strict "boys only" policy. Her chances are basically zero.
Dad's Big Apology
Shen Jianshe finally admits he’s been getting a big head lately. He realizes his solo trip to Sushui City was a reckless move. It almost got the entire family killed. He goes to Li Fengxia and formally apologizes for it. She tells him that admitting you’re wrong is the important part. She also says he has stepped up during some other critical moments. So, she agrees to let him move back into the house.
A Not-So-Secret Crush
The Dishwasher Incident
Shaoguang is showing Shen Shaojie the dishwasher. Shaojie complains that Lin Yan spoils Shaoguang. He feels left out. A few noble women wander over. They are also curious about this strange machine. They use the chance to gossip. They ask Shaoguang why she really broke off her engagement with Liu Feng. Then they ask what kind of man she’s looking for now.
Shaoguang starts describing her ideal man. She basically lists all of Lin Yan’s qualities. And right on cue, Lin Yan himself walks by after finishing work. The timing is perfect.
A Very Public Confession (and a Lake)
Later that night, Shaoguang is alone in the courtyard. She’s thinking about her feelings. She starts talking to herself. She wonders out loud if she’s actually falling for Lin Yan. She doesn't realize the rest of her family is nearby. They hear everything.
She is absolutely mortified. She gets so embarrassed that she just throws herself into the lake. The family panics and rushes to pull her out. Luckily, she’s okay. Just very, very wet and ashamed.
The Fallout
Lin Yan's Panic Room Visit
At the same time, Lin Yan is getting some important intel. Liu Chang confirms that a man named Zhao Erlang is actually Zhao Xunzhi. Lin Yan wants to know why Zhao Xunzhi changed his testimony years ago and framed a friend. He tells Liu Chang to get close to the guy and find out.
Then Liu Chang tells him about Shaoguang falling into the lake. Lin Yan completely freaks out. He doesn't even bother to put on an outer coat. He just runs straight to Shaoguang's room in his inner shirt.
The Shen family sees his panicked expression. They see him burst in, not even properly dressed. They all instantly understand how he feels about Shaoguang. He calms down once he sees she's not hurt and leaves. The family is left standing there in a very awkward silence.
The Shens Decide to Move
Shen Jianshe is now seriously worried. If Lin Yan and Shaoguang get together, it could change history. If history changes, their family might just blink out of existence. He asks Shaoguang what’s going on.
She tries to downplay it. She says Lin Yan isn't around women much. Her modern personality is just confusing him and giving him the wrong idea. Jianshe doesn't buy it. He decides they have to move out of Yunshui Garden immediately. If they don't see each other, nothing can happen.
The Final Confrontation
A Ghost from the Past?
Shen Shaojie is put in charge of finding a new house. He meets with a real estate agent. He’s shocked because she looks exactly like his ex-wife, Xiaomei. For a second, he thinks she must have time-traveled with them. He gets all emotional and won't leave her alone. She punches him, which snaps him out of it. He realizes it’s just a coincidence. She’s just a look-alike. After the misunderstanding is cleared up, the agent isn't mad anymore. She's actually touched by how much he clearly loved his ex-wife.
The Brutal Rejection
Li Fengxia goes to tell Lin Yan they are moving out. He thinks it’s because they’re scared of the Prince of Zhao. She sets him straight. She tells him it’s because she’s worried about him and her daughter.
Lin Yan is totally confused. He points out that he and Shaoguang are the same age. He doesn't understand why her family is so against him. He goes to confront Shaoguang directly.
She tries to play it cool and act like they’re just friends. He sees right through it. He asks her why she is avoiding him. She can't tell him the real reason. She gets frustrated and angry. She just blurts out that she’s simply tired of him.
This crushes him. He is visibly hurt. He gives her a formal bow and apologizes. He promises he will never bother her again.
