Episode Summary
Su Muyu's attempt at a quiet life falls apart. After a disastrous cooking attempt and a surprise visit from the famous Xie Xuan, his past catches up. City Lord Li Hanyi confronts him, followed by the new Dark River leader, Su Changhe. Su Changhe reveals a secret mission involving a key hidden in a sword, forcing Su Muyu to leave his peaceful life behind. The episode ends with them walking into a deadly trap at the Yellow Spring Pawnshop.

A Quiet Life Interrupted
The Worst Chef in the World
The episode opens at the clinic. Bai Hehuai is sorting herbs. Su Muyu shows up and offers to cook for him. Bai Hehuai feels a little guilty. He knows Su Muyu has been doing a lot for him lately.
He looks forward to the meal. But then he actually tastes it. You get a reality check right away. Su Muyu is a master with a sword. He is not a master in the kitchen. The food is awful.
Bai Hehuai basically begs him to stop cooking for everyone's sake. Su Muyu doesn't get it. He thinks he can just practice and get better. Bai Hehuai tries to explain it gently. Sometimes you're great at one thing. And that means you might just not have the talent for another. Su Muyu still believes hard work can fix anything.
So, Bai Hehuai takes over the cooking himself. Su Muyu is genuinely shocked that Bai Hehuai even knows how. Later, the clinic reopens. Bai Hehuai sees all the patients fawning over Su Muyu. His mood sours pretty fast.
An Unexpected Guest
A scholar walks up to the clinic. Bai Hehuai is already annoyed. He snaps that he only sees thirty patients a day. He says the slots are full and tries to send the man away.
But Su Muyu recognizes him. It’s the Confucian Sword Immortal, Xie Xuan. Su Muyu greets him warmly. Bai Hehuai immediately kicks out the actual patients. His attitude does a complete 180. He learns who Xie Xuan is and turns into a total fanboy. He begs Xie Xuan to show him a few moves.
Bai Hehuai also mentions that he's Xin Baicao's junior uncle. This stuns Xie Xuan. He looks at this young woman with new respect. Bai Hehuai finally realizes his own title carries a lot of weight.
Su Muyu invites Xie Xuan to stay for dinner. He even cracks a small smile. Xie Xuan notes how rare that is and agrees to stay. The funny part is, Xie Xuan ends up being the one who cooks. Su Muyu watches him, trying to learn.
An Unwanted Reunion
The City Lord Arrives
The peace doesn't last long. Li Hanyi shows up. She's the city lord. She's worried about the public's safety with Su Muyu around. She comes in hot and looks ready for a fight.
Bai Hehuai is secretly thrilled. He wants to see them go at it. But Su Muyu knows why she's here. He's a member of Dark River. It's normal for the city lord to be wary of him.
Instead of a fight, Bai Hehuai calls them family. He pulls Li Hanyi over to eat with them. He even brings out some good wine. As Li Hanyi drinks, she gets a thoughtful look. She seems to be thinking of someone from her past. Bai Hehuai then pretends to pass out drunk. This gives the other three space to talk business.
The Boss Makes an Entrance
Li Hanyi gets straight to the point. She tells Su Muyu she thought he would be the new leader of Dark River. She's not happy it's Su Changhe instead. She also says Xie Xuan told her something. Su Changhe may not be the most evil man alive, but he is definitely not a good person.
Just then, Su Changhe himself arrives. He heard everything. He and Li Hanyi trade a quick blow. Li Hanyi threatens to take his head. Su Changhe puts on a hurt expression. He complains that it's unfair. Why does everyone dislike him? Why not go after Su Muyu's head instead? Li Hanyi makes it clear. If things go south, she won't spare either of them.
The Mission Begins
A Secret in the Sword
Su Changhe gets down to business. He tells Su Muyu the Dark River leader's sword holds a secret. There's a key hidden inside it. They have to go find whatever it unlocks together.
Su Muyu agrees to leave that same night. He says this peaceful life was just a dream. It's better to end it quickly. Bai Hehuai is clearly sad to see him go. He tries his best to hide it.
Welcome to the Pawnshop
Hong Ying leads the two Su brothers to their destination. It's a place called the Yellow Spring Pawnshop. Inside, someone is putting on a spooky act. Su Changhe just laughs. He points out the irony to Su Muyu. One of them is an undertaker, the other is a puppet master. It's ridiculous that someone would try to scare them.
A man, Shopkeeper Wang, is at a counter with an abacus. He ignores them completely. After a moment, he gets angry. He slams the abacus on the ground. He orders his men to kill the two intruders, all while pretending he doesn't even see them.
