Spoiler Alert

The Poison Problem

A City Drugged

So, the episode kicks off with the entire city basically knocked out by a mysterious poison. Su Zhe points out that a "Five Poisons Array" is serious business. But Bai Hehuai has a pretty smart idea. He explains that this array is normally used to trap enemies. He thinks they can use it backwards. This would create a shield to block out the flower poison spreading everywhere. He's proud of this trick. It's a secret technique from his family. Even Su Muyu has to admit it’s a clever plan. Su Changhe is suspicious, though. He knows a poison this widespread means a master is pulling the strings.

Who's the Culprit?

Bai Hehuai starts running down the list of suspects. He says there are only three people in the world who could do this. He rules out his own uncle. The guy is lazy and allied with Snow-Moon City anyway. Su Muyu suggests it could be Tang Linghuang from the Tang Clan. But they decide against it. That guy’s poisons are extremely potent and kill instantly. There's no chance for a cure. This poison is slow and gentle, which doesn't fit his style.

That leaves only one person. A woman named Luo Yandie. She’s known for being twisted. Her whole thing is making people die peacefully in their dreams. This poison fits her methods perfectly.

Schemes and Sword Fights

A New Lord for Unrivaled City?

Ji Ruofeng sees an opportunity. Liu Yunqi is dead. Song Yanhu is without his key allies. Ji Ruofeng thinks it's time for a new lord in Unrivaled City. He finds a guy named Jian Wudi. This man is completely obsessed with swords. Ji Ruofeng tempts him with the promise of a legendary sword. He also says he'll find someone to help test it. Jian Wudi is totally hooked. He agrees, but he makes one thing clear. He doesn't want to be the city lord. He just wants to fight the most powerful sword immortal. Ji Ruofeng then hands Jian Wudi a cup of tea. Nearby, Ye Ya gives a knowing little smile. You know that's trouble.

A Duel is Brewing

Later, Jian Wudi runs into a poisoned Yan Zhantian. Haoyue Jun is there and totally freaks out. He thinks Jian Wudi is about to give Yan Zhantian the antidote. But Jian Wudi just walks away. He tells Yan Zhantian not to worry. They will have their battle one day.

Haoyue Jun tries to bolt. He doesn't get far. Li Hanyi catches him. She forces him to hand over the antidote for the city's poison. He gives it up to save his own skin.

Meanwhile, Dian Ye arrives with a message. He specifically requests to see Su Changhe and Su Muyu. Su Changhe immediately figures it out. The First Prince wants to use Su Muyu's sword challenge as an excuse to get rid of his political rivals. Su Zhe offers to fight Dian Ye himself. He argues his unaffiliated status gives him more freedom. The Prince of Langya and his allies seem to want this chaos. Their plan is to lure more sword masters to Unrivaled City. The final outcome will depend on Su Muyu's skill.

The Sword Immortal's Madness

Su Muyu vs. Jian Wudi

Jian Wudi wastes no time. He challenges Su Muyu to a duel. Su Changhe worries that Su Muyu is outmatched. Bai Hehuai disagrees. From a distance, Xie Xuan hears the clash of swords. He comments on how pure Su Muyu's sword intent is.

The fight is intense. They seem evenly matched at first. Jian Wudi even compliments Su Muyu, calling him a fine sword. Xie Xuan tells Li Hanyi that the martial world is about to get its sixth sword immortal. Jian Wudi is fascinated by Su Muyu. He wonders what he went through to develop such a pure technique.

Su Muyu gives it everything he has. He manages to defeat Jian Wudi but doesn't kill him. Su Muyu realizes Jian Wudi has completely lost his mind to his obsession. Jian Wudi doesn't even care. He's willing to go mad if it means achieving a higher level of swordsmanship. Song Yanhu shows up. He wants to team up with Su Muyu to finish Jian Wudi and clean up Unrivaled City. Xie Xuan senses someone is about to fall to their inner demons and decides to help.

The Aftermath and a Nasty Surprise

In the end, Su Muyu kills Jian Wudi. Jian Wudi's dying thought is that a sword will always be loyal. People, on the other hand, will betray you. Seeing this, Dian Ye just turns and leaves.

With the fight over, Li Hanyi gets to work. On Xie Xuan's advice, she uses her own power to spread the antidote through the flowers. The poison in the city vanishes. Everyone wakes up. Xie Xuan realizes that someone manipulated them into coming here.

Things seem to be settling down. Song Yanhu says he and Su Muyu can spar another day. Su Muyu decides Song Yanhu isn't a truly evil person, so his work here is done.

Then, Jian Wudi's body stands back up. Bai Hehuai realizes it's Ye Ya's doing. The group has to fight and kill Jian Wudi all over again. In the process, Bai Hehuai is infected with some kind of "puppet poison."
