Spoiler Alert

A Losing Battle

Su Muyu vs. Xu Liuyun

The episode kicks off right where we left it. Su Muyu is barely standing, but he's still trying to fight Xu Liuyun. You can tell Xu Liuyun knows he's already won. He just smirks. Su Muyu took a ton of sword hits to protect Bai Hehuai. Now his internal injuries are severe.

He tries to get up and immediately spits a mouthful of blood. Xu Liuyun lays it out cold. He tells Su Muyu that if he uses his powers again in the next few minutes, he’ll die on his own. Xu Liuyun won't even have to lift a finger.

A Friend in Need

Just then, Tu Wan shows up. He tells Su Muyu to just call him by his name because they're friends now. He's here to buy them some time. Tu Wan tells Xu Liuyun he’s going to hold him off for the time it takes an incense stick to burn. Xu Liuyun basically laughs in his face.

Then Night Raven pops in. He's got his own agenda. He says Tang Linghuang is the perfect "vessel" and that someone has to die tonight. Tu Wan doesn't care. He says he's sticking by his new friend, even if it kills him. This creates the perfect distraction. Su Muyu seizes the moment and wounds Xu Liuyun. After a quick patch-up for Tu Wan, Su Muyu grabs Bai Hehuai and gets out of there.

Bad Omens and Shifting Loyalties

A Dark Prediction

Back at the safe house, Mu Qingyang and Mu Xuewei are playing chess. Bai Hehuai's apprentice is pacing, worried sick about his master. Mu Qingyang tries to lighten the mood. He jokes that everything will be fine for Su Muyu and Bai Hehuai. But then he does a quick divination on the side. The result is bad. Really bad.

Questions at Court

We get a quick political scene. Zhuo Qing is talking to General Xiao Yongdian. He points out that their plans are failing. He then puts Xiao Yong on the spot. He asks him if he trusts his uncle, General Dian, more than he trusts actual results. It's a heavy question.

The Trap Springs

A Solo Mission

Mu Yumo arrives and learns that Dark River's location has been sealed off. The priority is getting the Divine Doctor, Bai Hehuai, to safety. Mu Xuewei and Mu Yumo think it’s too risky to move him. Su Muyu shuts that down. He says he'll go deal with their enemies alone. He doesn't want anyone else getting involved in his fight.

The Poison Man Arrives

So, Su Muyu heads out to find Night Raven. Mu Xuewei and Mu Yumo stay behind. They plan to set up a poison formation outside. It will block any pursuers and buy them more time to treat Bai Hehuai. But they run into a huge problem. Mu Yumo spots Tang Linghuang. He’s no longer just a person. He's been turned into a "poison man," which makes him incredibly dangerous and hard to deal with.

All-Out War

A General Falls

Su Muyu doesn't waste any time. He finds General Dian and injures him. When Night Raven hears about the attack, he makes an assumption. He figures no doctor came out to fight, so Bai Hehuai must already be dead. He summons his poison men and leaves. Su Muyu is furious. He looks at the general, a man who used to serve the people, now corrupted by the court. He’s about to finish the job, but the head of the Xie family shows up and stops him.

The Sword Immortal Returns

This is where it all goes wrong for Su Muyu. He's already hurt. He's no match for the Xie family head. After a few clashes, he tries to push his power to the limit. But Night Raven’s new weapon, the poison man Tang Linghuang, wounds him badly. Night Raven sees it all clearly. He realizes Su Muyu has lost control of his power. He also understands just how important Bai Hehuai is to him.

They have Su Muyu cornered. It looks like this is the end. Then, out of absolutely nowhere, his master, Su Yunxiu, appears! She grabs Su Muyu and they vanish.

Aftermath and Revelations

Master and Apprentice

Mu Qingyang tracks them down. At first, he thinks Su Yunxiu is an enemy. Then he realizes who she is. It's the legendary Sword Immortal, a person he has admired for years. She explains the truth. She never died. The leaders of Dark River couldn't find her after she left, so they just told everyone she was dead.

Su Muyu eventually wakes up. He tells his master they always suspected she was either alive and gone, or hiding within Dark River under a new identity. Su Yunxiu can see her apprentice has changed. She hears him talk about his feelings for Bai Hehuai and gives him her full support. She tells him that in her eyes, he can do no wrong.

The Big Bad's Bad Day

The episode ends with Su Changhe. He's trying to absorb some poison power. Something goes wrong inside his body, and he flips out. His mood gets even worse when a subordinate reports that General Dian's men attacked their people. Their alliance is officially broken.
