Revenge Goes Wrong

Shen Langhun's Botched Attack

So, Shen Langhun finally tracked down Liu Yan. He found him. But then he hesitated.

I get it. He remembered what Tang Lici told him. Liu Yan is on another level of powerful. The plan was to locate him and immediately fall back. But seeing Liu Yan’s face just brought all the pain flooding back. He pictured his lover dying. That grief took over.

He ignored Tang Lici’s very good advice and went for it. He even managed to land a sword strike right in the heart. You'd think that would be the end of it. It wasn't. Turns out Liu Yan has this thing called the Rebirth Manual, and it actually works. Liu Yan survived the hit. He then turned around and seriously wounded Shen Langhun. So much for that plan.

A Four-Year Grudge

Tang Lici vs. Liu Yan

Shen Langhun barely makes it back. Tang Lici sees the peach blossom petals stuck to his clothes and uses them to find Liu Yan's hideout. This reunion has been four years in the making. It is not a happy one.

Liu Yan is still stuck on one thing. He wants to know why Tang Lici killed Fang Zhou right in front of him. He lays it all out. Fang Zhou was the one who saved him. Fang Zhou was the one who personally healed Tang Lici. And his reward was getting murdered by Tang Lici. Liu Yan had to watch the whole thing.

A Battle of Wits, Not Swords

Tang Lici doesn't even bother to explain. He just flips the whole situation around.

He tells Liu Yan that he has been torturing himself for four years. He says Liu Yan has been watching him from the shadows this whole time. His eyes told him Tang Lici was a killer. But his gut kept telling him something was wrong. He has been trapped between his hatred and his doubt.

Tang Lici calls this the ultimate revenge. He’s locked Liu Yan in a mental prison. This psychological attack is brutal. It completely works. Liu Yan suffers a total breakdown.

But Tang Lici doesn't walk away clean. A sound attack from the Fox Immortal of Fengliu Hall hits him. It triggers an old wound from four years ago. The poison inside him spreads to his abdomen, and he’s left in agony.

Trouble in Sword King City

Chi Yun's Business Plan Hits a Snag

While all that is going on, Chi Yun is trying to run an operation. The Wanqiao Sect needs boats. Every merchant in Sword King City wants in on the deal. Chi Yun and A'Shui are busy signing people up.

Then Yu Qifeng’s men roll in with city guards. They shut the whole thing down. They pull out some rule about no private business during the Sword Bath Festival. To make it worse, they confiscate all of Chi Yun's ledgers.

An Unexpected Reunion

Chi Yun is furious, but A'Shui has a simple solution. The ledgers were taken. They can just steal them back.

So Chi Yun sneaks into the storage room. He's about to make off with the boxes when a woman in white stops him. Her face is veiled, but something about her feels familiar. They fight for a few moments. Then Chi Yun yanks her veil off.

It’s Bai Suche. His fiancée. The woman he’s been searching for this entire time.

He completely forgets about the fight. He asks her where she's been, why she's here. He assumes Yu Qifeng has brainwashed her or something. He just wants to take her home.

Bai Suche is ice cold. She tells him their engagement is off. She is now Yu Qifeng’s concubine. Chi Yun can't believe it. He grabs her, demanding an explanation. At that exact moment, he spots someone feeding poison into the room through a crack in the window. He has no choice but to jump out the window and run.

A Cruel Kindness

Tang Lici Pushes Chi Yun Away

Tang Lici is absolutely furious with Chi Yun when he gets back. He lays into him for being selfish and thinking only of himself. He tells him Bai Suche is a person, not property. She has the freedom to choose her own life. He even calls Chi Yun petty.

The words are harsh. Chi Yun gets angry and storms out.

A'Shui saw the whole exchange. She also saw how badly Tang Lici was injured the day before. She puts it together. He's pushing Chi Yun away on purpose. He's trying to protect him.

Later, Tang Lici confirms it to Shen Langhun. He says it’s better for Chi Yun to be blinded by anger right now. If he found out Bai Suche was connected to Fengliu Hall, the truth would destroy him.
