The Deal with Long Weiyun
The Black Fox Possession
The episode kicks off right where we left off. Wangquan Fugui is about to strike Long Weiyun. Quan Rumu jumps in to stop him. He knows something is wrong.
And he's right. Long Weiyun is not herself. She's possessed by a Black Fox. The creature has one goal. It wants to use her body to kill Quan Rumu and Qingtong. The possessed Long Weiyun grabs Quan Rumu. Normally, he wouldn't care if she killed him. But this time is different. He can't let that happen.
Qingtong and Wangquan Fugui act fast. They use their spider silk to tie Long Weiyun down. It's a temporary fix. They know the only way to save her is for her to fight the possession from the inside. So, Qingtong uses her silk to enter Long Weiyun's mind.
Inside, she finds Long Weiyun's consciousness. It's lost and confused. She's just holding a small memorial tablet with Quan Rumu's name on it. Qingtong tries to wake her up, but nothing works. Then, she remembers a poem Quan Rumu wrote. She recites it out loud. The words finally break through. Long Weiyun awakens. She realizes her love and hate are her own. No one else gets to control them.
The Real Reason She's Here
With her mind clear, Long Weiyun expels the Black Fox. Wangquan Fugui immediately captures the creature's clone. The effort is too much for Long Weiyun. She uses up all her spiritual energy and collapses.
Later, she's sitting alone outside. Quan Rumu finds her and asks the big questions. Why was she possessed? And why did she come here? She admits she was trying to find a way to bring him back to life. She searched everywhere, across both the human and demon realms. Nothing worked.
Then the Black Fox found her. It gave her a twisted solution. It told her she could save Quan Rumu if she stole Wangquan Fugui's sword core. That's how the evil spirit got its hooks into her. Quan Rumu tells her he never blamed her for what happened in the past. But her hatred for Quan Jingting runs too deep. His kindness now just makes her pain worse. Before she leaves, she tells Wangquan Fugui she owes him. She gives him a dragon scale as a promise. If he ever needs her, she will come, no matter the danger.
A Heartbreaking Goodbye
Butler Fei's Final Words
Butler Fei sealed his own vital points to stay alive. He used every last bit of his strength to find Wangquan Fugui. By the time he gets there, he is barely hanging on.
Wangquan Fugui tries to transfer his spiritual energy to save him. It's no use. The energy won't go in. Butler Fei knows he's a goner. He uses his last breaths to give some final advice. He begs Wangquan Fugui not to hate his father. He explains that his father, Wangquan Hongye, and his mother, Dongfang Huaizhu, only ever wanted him to be happy. They wanted him to see the beauty of the world for himself.
Butler Fei dies right in front of him. Wangquan Fugui is destroyed. He vows that in his next life, he will be the one to serve "Grandpa Fei."
The Final Confrontation
Freeing the Prisoners
Quan Rumu is now set on a suicide mission. He plans to take Quan Jingting down with him. Wangquan Fugui sees right through it. He seals Quan Rumu's pressure points to stop him and tells Qingtong to keep an eye on him. Qingtong is worried about Wangquan Fugui going alone. He assures her he has a plan. He tells her to take Quan Rumu to the Cold Pond for safety, then meet back up with him.
Elsewhere, Feng Tingyun and the other captured cultivators are in bad shape. Their powers have been sealed. They've been starved for five days. But they still refuse to bow to Quan Jingting. Wangquan Fugui arrives and frees them. Then he heads to the Sword Tomb.
His father, Wangquan Hongye, is imprisoned there. Wangquan Fugui asks his father to go to the main hall. Wangquan Hongye says it's pointless. But then he senses something new in his son. He feels the power of the Heaven and Earth Sword technique.
An Impossible Choice
Wangquan Fugui and Wangquan Hongye arrive at the main hall. It's time to expose Quan Jingting's lies. Wangquan Fugui releases the Black Fox clone he captured earlier.
This forces Quan Jingting's hand. He reveals his own demonic power. The Black Fox possessing him panics. It starts attacking everyone in the hall. It even possesses several of the clan elders. Wangquan Fugui unleashes the Heaven and Earth Sword, driving the Black Fox spirits away.
But the elders are not on his side. They claim the scene proves Wangquan Fugui is the dangerous person from the prophecy. They demand that Wangquan Hongye kill his own son for the good of the clan.
Wangquan Fugui just scoffs. He looks at his father. Then he makes a request. He asks his father to remove his sword core and end this problem for good.
