Xun Weilai gets another idea at the barbershop. He rushes to the school, planning to do something to grab Zhao Youzuo's interest. He's too late. Zhao Youzuo has already started a psychology club and is totally absorbed in it.
That night, Xun Weilai goes straight to Zhao Youzuo's father, Zhao Donglai. He complains that the boy has given up on real studies to focus on psychology. He hopes the father will put a stop to it. This plan also fails. Zhao Donglai is actually proud of his son. He encourages him to follow his dreams.

Later, Xun Weilai feels a sudden wave of dizziness. He goes to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor gives him some shocking news. He has alcoholic fatty liver disease and has had it for years. Xun Weilai is floored. He doesn't even drink alcohol. How is this possible?

Blaming the Wrong Person
Xun Weilai spots Zhao Youzuo in the library with Xu Tutu. They are deep in conversation about their majors. He immediately assumes Xu Tutu is the one who convinced Zhao Youzuo to switch to psychology.

Xun Weilai decides to use his "charms" on Xu Tutu. He gets all dressed up and stages a "chance encounter" with her at the bus stop. He tries to make small talk and even compliments her for being good with her hands.
Then he pulls out his own creation. It's a hat he knitted. He proudly shows it to her. The hat looks more like a weirdly shaped bag. Xu Tutu doesn't want to hurt his feelings, so she lies and says his knitting is pretty good. She thinks he and Wang Yiman are a couple and plans to give the hat to her. Just as Xun Weilai is about to confess he actually likes Xu Tutu, she figures it out. She panics, jumps off the bus, and runs away.
A Heroic Rescue and a Harsh Reality
Gangster for a Day
Xu Tutu gets home to a terrifying scene. Her drunk father is threatening her and her mother, Shu Jie. He has a weapon and is demanding money. Xun Weilai, who followed her, sees what's happening through the door. He pretends he has the wrong house and leaves.
He comes back a minute later with Zhao Liao. Zhao Liao is wearing sunglasses and looks like a mob boss. Xu Tutu's father mistakes him for a legendary gangster named Master Li. The father gets terrified and runs for his life.
Different Priorities
After Shu Jie and Xu Tutu are safe, Zhao Liao asks Xun Weilai why he was following the girl. Xun Weilai admits the truth. He doesn't want her life to change because it might mess up his own timeline. He says he hasn't lived his good life long enough yet. Zhao Liao has a totally different view. He says he's happy as long as he gets to see Xu Tutu and Zhao Youzuo live happy lives.
Hitting Rock Bottom
Xun Weilai returns to the comic book shop he calls home. His grandmother is there with bad news. His grandfather has passed away. The family is selling the comic book shop. Since Xun Weilai is just a cousin, he has to move out.
He packs his bags and leaves. While walking down the street, he sees Zhao Liao and Zhao Youzuo's family laughing together. The happy scene is a painful reminder that he's no longer part of their world. He feels completely lost.

That night, Zhao Youzuo is worried about Xun Weilai. He goes to the comic book shop to check on him. Xun Weilai is gone.
But he left something behind. On the floor, Zhao Youzuo finds a stack of papers. He picks them up and reads them. They are Xun Weilai's detailed plans. Every single one is about how to manipulate Zhao Youzuo. The kid now knows everything.
