Episode Summary
In this episode, Zhao Yue reveals he's a poison master planning to create chaos for Chu Yu and Wei Yun so he can escape the city. His plan works, as vicious rumors about their relationship spread, forcing Chu Yu to leave the Wei household to protect their reputation. Wei Yun accepts a harsh family punishment for his role in the scandal. When Chu Yu returns home, she's met by an angry mob. The episode ends with her brother, Chu Linyang, finally telling their mother and sister the truth: Chu Yu's marriage was a ploy to investigate their father's murder.

Zhao Yue's Real Plan
So, it turns out Zhao Yue has been holding back. He tells Li Changming that medicine isn't even his main skill. His real talent is poison. The guards he and Xiang'er just dealt with? He poisoned them all.
His new goal is to take control of the Princess's residence starting tomorrow. But he knows this isn't a long-term solution. His two best guys in Da Sui, Yao Yong and Shen You, have both been taken out. He can't stay here anymore. The problem is getting the Grand Princess out of Huajing City. It's not going to be easy.
So, Zhao Yue comes up with a new strategy. He's going to create a huge mess for Chu Yu and Wei Yun. He wants them so busy with their own problems they won't notice him. Then he can grab Li Changming and escape back to Bei Qi.
A Botched Chase and a New Arrival
Wei Qiu has been keeping an eye on Shen You. He was wondering why the guy wasn't making a move. Then, someone at the inn yells "fire." Smoke starts pouring out of the building. People are scrambling to get out.
Shen You runs out with a blanket over his face. Wei Qiu spots him and gives chase. As Shen You is escaping, he runs right into Wang Lan. She's about to give birth. He tells her maid to go find help. He was actually going to stay with Wang Lan. But then Wei Qiu catches up. Shen You abandons Wang Lan and takes off.
Luckily, there was a clinic nearby. Wei Qiu also stayed by her side. Wang Lan safely gives birth to a baby girl. They name her Wei Lingshu.
Wei Yun shows up to check on them. He stands outside the door and listens to the women talking. He hears that his sister-in-law and the baby are both fine. He breathes a sigh of relief and turns to leave. But Chu Yu comes out holding the baby to show him.
Wei Yun decides not to punish Wei Qiu for losing Shen You. Chu Yu gets it. That lead is gone, but she knows they'll find another way.
Later, Shen You finds Zhao Yue. He's on the ground, begging like a dog for the antidote. We learn Zhao Yue is controlling him with poison. If he wasn't, Shen You probably would have ratted him out to Wei Yun and Chu Yu already. Zhao Yue doesn't seem to care. He's already given his next task to Xiang'er. Now he just has to sit back and watch the show.
The Rumor Mill Starts Grinding
Rumors start spreading like wildfire through Huajing City. Jiang Chun goes directly to Chu Yu about it. She tells Chu Yu to just find someone else to love. But Chu Yu stands her ground. She says her relationship with Wei Yun doesn't hurt anyone.
Chu Yu Leaves the Wei Family
Still, Chu Yu decides to protect the Wei family's reputation. She gives up her position as the head lady of the house. She leaves the Wei residence entirely. Just as her carriage is pulling away, Wei Yun's carriage passes by. They just miss each other.
Wei Yun Faces the Consequences
Jiang Chun confronts Wei Yun. She reminds him he isn't the pampered seventh son of the Wei family anymore. He is the Marquis Zhenguo. And a marquis who breaks the family rules has to face the family punishment. Wei Yun doesn't argue. He tells Wei Qiu to carry out the punishment.
A Vicious Welcome Home
Chu Yu gets back to the Chu family home. A huge crowd is blocking the entrance. They're throwing vegetables and screaming insults. Someone even throws a bucket of ink. Her brother, Chu Linyang, jumps in front of her to block it. His back gets completely soaked.
Her mother, Xie Yun, and her sister, Chu Jin, immediately blame Chu Yu for the public shame. Chu Jin is speechless.
Wei Yun arrives. He grabs the guy leading the mob, Sun Yanei, by the throat. If Chu Yu hadn't yelled at him to stop, Wei Yun would have killed him right there in the street. Sun Yanei isn't scared at all. He starts talking trash about Old General Chu's honor. Chu Linyang fires back. He says the Chu family's name isn't built on a fancy plaque. It's earned by the actions of the Chu family themselves.
Chu Linyang then notices blood on Wei Yun's collar. He realizes Wei Yun was punished because of the rumors. He pulls Wei Yun aside for some real talk. He says these rumors hurt the Chu family way more than the Wei family. Wei Yun is a Marquis. He can walk away from this scandal. But for Chu Yu, a woman, this kind of gossip can destroy her life.
The Truth Finally Comes Out
Xie Yun is furious that Chu Linyang took down the family's ceremonial door plaque. She's just crying and yelling.
That's when Chu Linyang drops the bomb. He tells his mother and sister the real reason Chu Yu is involved with the Wei family. She married into their house to find out who really murdered their father.
He explains that she didn't have to take this risk. Her feelings for Wei Yun are real. But this all started as a dangerous mission to find the truth. Xie Yun had no idea about any of this. She tells Chu Linyang to start from the beginning and tell her everything.
