Spoiler Alert

The Radio and a Tough Choice

The episode kicks off with Li Heng. He gets that radio moved to the west-suburb warehouse without a hitch. It seems too easy. And it is.

Just as he secures it, Jia Yunying arrives. Li Heng has to dive into the shadows fast so she doesn't spot him. She has no idea who her mysterious helper is. She asks Yu Tong to pass along her thanks to whoever it was.

While they're talking, she also drops some personal news. Wu Shiren proposed to her. Yu Tong gives her some pretty solid advice. He tells her to listen to her heart. Don't make a rash decision you'll end up regretting. But he also tells her she needs to learn to let go of feelings that are going nowhere. That's a direct shot at her lingering thing for, well, you know who.

Family Feuds and Political Fallout

Li Heng Gets Grilled

The next morning, Jia Yunwu comes looking for Li Heng. He's not happy. He questions why the Zhang Yunhu case was closed so quickly. He says it doesn't follow any of the normal interrogation rules. He directly asks Li Heng if he knew about Zhang Yunhu's plan to hijack the car.

Li Heng denies everything. He plays the good soldier. He says he was just following orders and has no right to question his superiors. Then he plays his trump card. He "accidentally" lets it slip that the case is tied to Shen Yihe's private affairs. It's a clear, unspoken threat. He's telling Jia Yunwu to back off before he steps on the wrong toes.

A Father and Son Divided

Shen Yihe is having a bad day. The problem is Jia Yunwu's father, Jia Zhong. He's been making public statements against the civil war. He's pushing for a peaceful liberation of Chengdu. This is causing a huge political headache. Shen Yihe is furious. He orders Jia Yunwu to go home and get his father under control.

That night, Wu Shiren is over for dinner at the Jia house. The timing is terrible. Jia Zhong and Jia Yunwu get into a massive argument over politics right there at the dinner table. It's heated. It's ugly.

The fight continues later in the study. Jia Yunwu keeps trying to persuade his father. But Jia Zhong won't have it. He tears into his son. He accuses him of abandoning his principles and losing his way. That's the breaking point for Jia Yunwu. He angrily packs his bags, cuts ties with his father, and leaves the family home.

The Heist

While all the family drama is happening, Wang Xiaofei helps Sisi out of another jam. Those two are definitely getting closer.

Planning the Job

Li Heng needs to make a move. He arranges a secret meeting with An Mi. He gets straight to the point. He proposes they work together for mutual gain. He needs her to help him get a confidential document out of a safe.

An Mi lays out the security. The safe requires two keys and a password. Shen Yihe holds one key. A man named Yang Deng holds the other. An Mi tells him she can probably get Shen Yihe's key. But getting Yang Deng's key is Li Heng's problem.

Immediately after their meeting, An Mi reports everything to Lu Wenlu. Lu Wenlu tells her to keep playing along. He wants her to stay close to Li Heng and find out what his real game is.

Getting the Keys

Li Heng's plan for Yang Deng is classic. He invites him out for drinks and gets him completely hammered. Once Yang Deng is passed out, Li Heng takes the key.

An Mi has the riskier job. She sneaks into Shen Yihe's bedroom to search for the other key. She's almost caught when Shen Yihe walks in unexpectedly. An Mi has to think on her feet. She lies and says she was just delivering some soup for her sister. The lie works. Shen Yihe buys it.

Later, An Mi goes to the designated spot. She places the key on a door lamp as planned. Li Heng appears from the shadows and retrieves it. The exchange happens flawlessly. Except for one thing. Wang Xiaofei saw the whole thing.

He immediately reports Li Heng and An Mi's suspicious behavior to Lu Wenlu. He suggests they should use this opportunity to eliminate Li Heng for good. But Lu Wenlu has other ideas. He tells him no.

The Big Reveal

Late that night, Li Heng stumbles back into the office. He's putting on a great show of being drunk. When he's sure no one is around, he gets to work. He uses the two keys he acquired and opens the safe.

The documents inside are explosive. He finds a Central Statistics Bureau assassination list. Two names on that list are Jia Zhong and Commander Deng.

But that's not all. The files also reveal the true identity of Wu Dafei. He's a Central Statistics Bureau undercover agent. This finally explains why his loyalties seemed to shift so suddenly.

Just as Li Heng is about to leave, he hears footsteps in the hallway. It's Jia Yunwu. Li Heng ducks behind a large pillar just in time. Jia Yunwu scans the empty corridor and sees nothing. He walks over to the archive room and asks the subordinate on duty if anything unusual happened.

The man reports that the night was completely quiet. The only thing of note was Li Heng and Yang Deng getting drunk. He says they're both in their offices, passed out.
