Episode Summary
Yan Tuo escapes the hotel with the creature, only to be hunted by Nie Jiuluo's allies. Nie Jiuluo tries to dispose of Master Sun's body but is seen. The Hotel Chaos
Yan Tuo and the Thing in the Trunk
We start with Yan Tuo. He's alone in his car, on high alert. The silence is making him jumpy. He keeps checking the trunk, worried about the "dog tooth" creature inside. He opens the bag for a peek. Two big eyes stare right back at him. It gives him a serious jump scare. Just then, the hotel fire alarm starts blaring. He has to go.
On his way, he literally runs straight into Nie Jiuluo. She's trying to escape the chaos. They lock eyes for a second. They definitely recognize each other. This is not a great start for either of them.
Nie Jiuluo's Desperate Move
Nie Jiuluo uses the alarm as a cover. She doubles back to the room where Master Sun's body is. She needs to move him before Xiong Hei finds him. With a lot of effort, she drags the body into her own room. She manages to hide just as Xiong Hei passes by.
Once she's safe, she takes a closer look at Master Sun's wounds. It's brutal. The injury looks like it was made by a giant bear paw. This confirms her suspicions. Something inhuman is involved.
Meet the Villains
A Disturbing Dinner
The show cuts to a hidden base for a mysterious organization. A woman named Lin Xirou is there. She is just tearing into a plate of raw meat. It's a pretty intense sight. Another girl, Lin Ling, is with her. She looks completely disgusted by the bloody meal. She tries to make excuses for why she can't eat.
Lin Xirou isn't having it. She gives Lin Ling one sharp, terrifying look. That's all it takes. Lin Ling immediately forces herself to start eating the raw meat. It's clear who is in charge here.
Then, Lin Xirou's phone rings. It's Xiong Hei. He tells her the "dog tooth" is gone and Yan Tuo was at the scene. She becomes furious. The tables and chairs in the room actually start shaking from her anger. She calms herself down just enough to give an order. She tells Xiong Hei to clean up his mess.
The Hunters Close In
A High-Tech Problem
Nie Jiuluo sends Yan Tuo's license plate number to her contacts in the Nanshan Hunters organization. A member named Limping Brother gets the message. He has a problem, though. He's completely clueless about how to use his smartphone. Luckily, another hunter, Xiong Ge, is there. He patiently walks him through how to use the phone.
While this is happening, Yan Tuo's girlfriend calls him. She's worried sick that his cover has been blown. He tells her he's okay for now. She doesn't sound convinced. She has a strong feeling that something bad is coming.
The Roadblock Trap
Another hunter, Big Head Brother, sets a trap. He poses as a Nanshan rescue worker. He pretends to be clearing a blockage on a remote road. His real goal is to stop Yan Tuo's car.
Soon enough, Yan Tuo drives up. He rolls down his window to ask what's going on. The second he does, Big Head Brother smells it. He recognizes the unique scent of a "Xiao" creature coming from the car. He lies and says the road ahead is closed. He offers to lead Yan Tuo on a detour. Yan Tuo is a little suspicious, but he doesn't have much choice. He agrees to follow him.
The Crash
A Failed Pursuit
Nie Jiuluo has her own plan. She disguises herself as a hotel attendant. She stuffs Master Sun's body into a large suitcase. She tries to wheel it out of the hotel. But Xiong Hei spots her. He knows something is up.
Back on the road, Yan Tuo's suspicion grows. He notices the traffic patterns seem normal. He makes a quick call to the traffic department. They confirm the road is perfectly clear. He was right. Big Head Brother is lying. Yan Tuo immediately decides to lose him.
A chase begins. Big Head Brother tries to keep up, but he's not as skilled a driver. He almost has a head-on collision with another car. During that moment of confusion, Yan Tuo makes his move. He speeds off and disappears.
An Unlucky Reunion
Big Head Brother is frustrated. He pulls over and sends a message to the Nanshan Hunters group chat. He tells them he lost Yan Tuo.
Nie Jiuluo is driving while she checks the group message. She's distracted for just a second. In that second, her car smashes directly into another vehicle. It's Yan Tuo's car. The impact is hard. She's knocked unconscious.
A Glimpse into the Dungeon
The episode ends with a final, creepy scene. We are in a dark, wet dungeon. An unseen person brings a basin of raw, bloody meat into a cell. The walls are covered in deep scratch marks. A ragged old doll sits in the corner. A low voice speaks to the prisoner inside. The voice warns them to be patient. The Nanshan Hunters are out there. They can only leave the cell for fun once every four years.
