Doctor’s Orders and Third Wheels
We start off at the hospital. Cen Jin takes Li Wu for a checkup with Dr. Lu. The news is good. It’s not a serious disease. It mostly affects adults with bad habits. Surgery is an option, but Cen Jin shuts that down. She thinks it’s too risky. She decides they will fix it through lifestyle changes instead.
Dr. Lu gives a list of instructions. Cen Jin types every single word into her phone. Li Wu watches her and secretly loves the attention. Then things get awkward. Dr. Lu suggests a weekend shooting range trip. He clearly wants to hang out with Cen Jin. Li Wu immediately jumps in. He claims he loves shooting too. He effectively invites himself along to block the date. Cen Jin buys a pill organizer later to make sure Li Wu stays on track.
The Creative Block
The timeline jumps back to 2016. Cen Jin is stressing over a pitch for Bei'ao Auto. Her team’s ideas are weak. The current frontrunner is a proposal from Wu Fu. She pushes her team to do better.
She goes home and checks Li Wu’s grades. He is improving. She tries to brainstorm with him. She asks what men look for in an off-road vehicle. Then she remembers he is a kid who has never driven a car. That leads nowhere.
A Lucky Connection
Cen Jin needs inspiration. She takes Li Wu to a VR experience center. He gets lost in a 3D browser simulation. Cen Jin wanders off and plays a floor piano with a little girl. The girl’s mom, Shen Yun, thinks it’s cute. She takes a video and sends it to Cen Jin.
Li Wu finishes the simulation. He is blown away by the tech. He talks about how AI changes lives. This sparks an idea for Cen Jin. She decides to pitch the car as a lifestyle changer rather than just a machine.
Playing the Game
Back at the office, reality hits. An assistant tells Cen Jin the client is biased. They already favor Wu Fu because of his relationship with Manager Chen. It looks like a rigged game. But Cen Jin spots an opening. The final decision maker isn't Manager Chen. It’s Shen Yun.
Cen Jin realizes Shen Yun is the mom from the VR center. She approaches Shen Yun directly. She pitches her concept. Shen Yun knows Cen Jin’s reputation. She agrees to let her pitch. She promises a fair shot, but no special favors.
The Pitch and the Win
Presentation day arrives. Wu Fu goes first. His pitch is technical and safe. He is shocked to see Cen Jin there. Cen Jin goes next. Her pitch focuses on human emotion and scenery. She uses visuals of Yunfeng Village. It’s a travelogue style ad. It connects emotionally.
Shen Yun says they will discuss it. The weekend rolls around. Li Wu thinks Cen Jin is working late. He plans to stay at his dorm. Then he finds out she is home making hotpot. He rushes back.
During dinner, the text comes in. Cen Jin beat Wu Fu. She won the account. She is ecstatic. She tells Li Wu they need to scout locations in Yunfeng Village. Li Wu grabs a notebook. He draws a map of a mountain path near his grandfather’s house. He describes the sunrise and the sea of clouds.
The Realization
Cen Jin is riding high at work. Her boss gives her tickets to a stand-up comedy show. She decides to take Li Wu. She calls him and tells him to get off the bus near her office.
Li Wu steps off the bus. He sees a massive ad on a screen. It’s a promo video featuring Cen Jin. She looks incredible. He flashes back to the first time he saw her in the village. He thinks about everything she has done for him. He looks at the screen and realizes something huge. This isn't just gratitude. He has a serious crush on her.
