Episode Summary
Shen Yiyang and Chun Chang finally share a kiss, though a guest interrupts them. Sparks Fly at the Bar
Shen Yiyang heads over to Chang Bar for a drink. Things get busy when a guest arrives to check in. The room isn't ready. Shen Yiyang and Chun Chang head upstairs to clear out some junk. It’s mundane work until Shen Yiyang reaches for a tape measure. He accidentally brushes Chun Chang’s hand.
The tension spikes immediately. Chun Chang leans in for a kiss. Shen Yiyang freezes up at first. She starts to pull away, thinking she misread the signal. He grabs her and pulls her back. They finally kiss. It’s a great moment until the guest walks in on them. The guest awkwardly tells them to finish up and leaves.
Business and Bad Signals
Shen Yiyang is still trying to help Li Wu keep his company afloat. He sets up a meeting with an investor interested in eco-friendly projects. The investor looks at the Tongchen Company portfolio. He doesn't say yes, but he doesn't say no. He just wants to move fast. Shen Yiyang tells Li Wu to hang in there.
Li Wu wants to buy Shen Yiyang dinner to say thanks. Shen Yiyang checks his phone. He realizes a text he wrote to Chun Chang never sent. She has been waiting for two hours. He rushes back to the bar. Chun Chang is furious. Shen Yiyang apologizes and drags her out for food to smooth things over.
Li Wu Spirals Down
Li Wu goes to see Dr. Lu for a check-up. He goes alone. Dr. Lu prescribes more meds but suggests therapy. The doctor drops a bomb. He mentions that Cen Jin wants to cut ties with her past. This hits Li Wu hard. He leaves the hospital in a foul mood.
Cen Jin texts him to ask about the appointment. He ignores her. She texts him later about an aromatherapy product he was testing for work. He ignores that too. Li Wu gets back to the office. His medication alarm goes off. He remembers the doctor's words about Cen Jin moving on. He turns off all his alarms out of spite.
A Late Night Rescue
Chun Chang tries her hand at livestreaming. She gives relationship advice. Shen Yiyang watches but refuses to leave fake comments to boost her numbers. He prefers to help her in real life at the bar.
Later that night, Cen Jin runs into Li Wu. He is slumped outside his apartment in obvious pain. She asks for his door code. It turns out to be the same as hers. She gets him inside. He admits he left his pills at the office. Cen Jin gets angry at him for neglecting his health.
She tries to help. She looks up a massage technique for headaches on her phone. She works on his back and neck. Li Wu starts to drift off. He grabs her hand. He begs her to stay until he falls asleep. She agrees. Li Wu falls asleep in bed, but Cen Jin passes out on the couch.
Old Memories Resurface
Watching Cen Jin sleep triggers a flashback for Li Wu. He remembers high school. They were cooking together once. A grease fire flared up. He jumped in front of her to block the heat. His heart pounded in his chest.
Another memory hits him. Cen Jin washed her hair one night. She asked for a drying cap. He brought it to her. Seeing her with wet hair made him panic. He realized he was falling too hard. He decided to run away from the feelings. He went back to school early. He transferred into the "Rocket Class" to focus solely on studying. He sat behind Tao Wanwen and buried himself in work. His grades shot up to twenty-third in the grade.
