The Nepotism Trap and Dorm Room Drama

The Interview That Wasn't

Nie Xiguang really wants to stand on her own two feet. She spends time prepping for her interview at Shengyuan Company and even runs a mock session with Xiao Feng. She is determined to prove her worth without relying on Zhuang Xu’s help. But her bubble bursts the moment she walks into the office. The interviewer barely asks her anything. He reveals that General Manager Sheng Bokai already cleared her for hire. It turns out her family's company, Yuancheng, has deep ties with Shengyuan. She gets the job instantly, but it feels like a handout.

Lin Yusen Flexes His Muscles

While Xiguang deals with her imposter syndrome, the Shengyuan executives hold a high-stakes meeting. Sheng Bokai wants to partner with Yuancheng because they have deep pockets. He sees it as easy money. Lin Yusen sees it differently. He argues that the partnership offers zero profit for Shengyuan. He suggests diluting Yuancheng's shares instead. He backs his ruthless strategy with sharp market analysis. The veteran managers are stunned. Lin Yusen has only been in real estate for a year, but he just schooled everyone in the room.

Lunch Table Tension

Back on campus, the vibe is awkward. Xiguang mentions she passed the interview. She admits she isn't even sure she wants to take the offer. Ye Rong sits there in silence. She applied to the same company and hasn't heard a word. Si Liang tries to signal Xiguang to shut up, but the damage is done. Xiguang realizes too late that her success is salt in Ye Rong's wound.

Later, Xiguang gets a morale boost. A solar company in Suzhou calls her for an interview. This makes her happy. It proves she can get attention without her parents' connections.

The Accusation

The drama explodes at the lake pavilion. Si Liang calls a meeting, and Zhuang Xu is there too. Ye Rong drops the bomb. She accuses Xiguang of sabotage. She claims Xiguang took a message from Shengyuan HR and never passed it on. Ye Rong says Zhuang Xu checked with his contacts. The calls went out Monday afternoon. Xiguang was the only one in the dorm.

Xiguang is stunned. She tries to prove her innocence by calling HR right there. Then she hesitates. Calling HR to prove a point feels arrogant. She changes the number mid-dial. Zhuang Xu grabs the phone. He sees she dialed a fake number. It looks like an admission of guilt.

Bringing the Receipts

Xiguang runs off to her uncle's house to escape the heat. Jiang Rui teases her about being heartbroken again, but she ignores him. She refuses to let this slide. She goes back to school and pulls the entry logs from the library. She needs an alibi.

Back at the dorm, Xiao Feng walks in on Ye Rong complaining. Xiao Feng realizes she messed up. She was the one who took the call for Ye Rong. She forgot to pass the message. The HR intern also promised to call back but flaked.

Xiao Feng organizes a dinner to clear the air. Xiguang shows up with her library logs and confirmation from HR. She slams the evidence down. The intern admits the mistake. Ye Rong looks foolish and skips the dinner entirely.
