Episode Summary
Zhuang Xu learns that Nie Xiguang might not be officially dating Lin Yusen yet. He crashes a karaoke party to confess his feelings. Xiguang rejects him. She points out that he had years to make a move but was too cowardly. Zhuang Xu is left heartbroken. Xiguang reunites with Lin Yusen and solidifies their relationship.

The Truth Comes Out
We start with the aftermath of the birthday dinner. Zhuo Hui tries to drag Zhuang Xu to karaoke. Zhuang Xu isn't feeling it. He says no. Kris suggests a movie instead. Everyone agrees to that plan.
The group heads to the theater. Kevin and the others try to be slick. They leave Zhuang Xu and Kris alone together. But Zhuang Xu looks miserable. Kris is smart. She figures it out. She guesses he is still hung up on Nie Xiguang. Zhuang Xu realizes he can't hide it. He admits the truth. He doesn't want to waste Kris's time.
Kris is surprisingly cool about it. She decides to be honest too. She tells him something important. Back at Changbai Mountain, Nie Xiguang mentioned something specific. She said Lin Yusen was still just pursuing her. They weren't officially a couple yet.
This wakes Zhuang Xu up. He realizes he still has a shot. He forgets about the movie completely. He rushes straight to Siliang's birthday karaoke party.
Karaoke and Passive Aggression
Ye Rong shows up to the party too. She brings an expensive gift for Siliang. Siliang is impressed. She envies Ye Rong’s financial independence. Her own salary is tiny. Her boss is struggling with a mortgage. Ye Rong takes this chance to brag. She says choosing the right leader is more important than hard work.
She sees Nie Xiguang there. She can’t resist taking a dig. She mentions the solar industry is doing poorly. She implies Xiguang only survives because she has money to burn on mistakes. Xiguang doesn't let that slide. She fires back. She says everyone’s time costs the same. Even big real estate investments aren't always safe.
Zhuang Xu finally bursts in. He is the last one to arrive. He gives his gift and downs a few drinks. Xiguang ignores him completely. She keeps her head down and texts Lin Yusen. Zhuang Xu decides to sing. He picks "Faith" by Jeff Chang. Xiguang recognizes it. It was a song she loved in college. She feels awkward. She refuses to look at him. She leaves first. Zhuang Xu follows her out immediately.
The Elevator Confrontation
Zhuang Xu catches her at the elevator. He asks if he is too late to confess. Xiguang shuts him down. She says she is with Lin Yusen now. Zhuang Xu gets defensive. He says it isn't fair.
He starts listing his excuses. He thought they would go to Shanghai together after graduation. But she changed her mind. He went to find her at Jiang Rui's house later. They told him she went abroad. He thought she was gone for good. It turned out to be just a study tour. He claims fate played tricks on him. He missed too many chances.
Xiguang stays calm. She tells him the result is set. It is over. She walks into the elevator. She tells him to wait for the next one.
The Staircase Chase
Zhuang Xu won't give up. He runs down the stairs. He catches her again at the building exit. She is trying to hail a taxi. He grabs her arm. He admits he wanted to find her at Changbai Mountain too. He was just too scared.
Xiguang finally lets him have it. She tells him the truth. He had countless opportunities in college. He never took them. He felt safe because he knew she liked him. He took her for granted. Lin Yusen is different. Lin Yusen was brave enough to speak up. She decided to be with him the moment he confessed.
She gets in a taxi and leaves. The classmates come out of the KTV. They see the whole messy scene. Ye Rong walks away alone. Zhuang Xu is left standing there in tears.
Safe Harbor
Xiguang goes straight to the exhibition hall. Lin Yusen comes out to meet her. She throws herself into his arms. She seems more sure of her choice than ever. Lin Yusen has to remind her to be polite. Professor Xi and Elio are standing right behind him.
On the drive back to Suzhou, the mood lightens. Lin Yusen tells her about Elio and Professor Xi. Their love story is sweet too. They talk about the future. Professor Xi needs time to build a team. Lin Yusen plans to use that time well. He wants to study more biology and manage his company.
The next day brings a new opportunity. Shen Shu calls. Her company is bidding on a digital media project. She liked the solar garden she saw earlier. She wants to bring her staff to visit Shuangyuan for inspiration.
