Dirty Deals and Hunting Trips
Cut to the present. Director Chen takes Mayor Wu Danan hunting. This isn't a friendly outing. Chen pressures Wu to finalize the Longwan land lease. He bullies him. Wu is terrified of offending these powerful men. He promises to get it done.
Meanwhile, Qin Feng and Old Mai are hunting too. They grill Old Jiu about a contact in a phone. It belongs to "Scar," one of Luo Bo's thugs. Qin Feng immediately wants the location of Luo Bo’s secret black prison.
A Family Dinner Ruined
Inside that black prison, Wang Ming is getting beaten to a pulp. He refuses to hand over what he has. He stays silent despite the torture.
Back at home, things seem peaceful for a moment. Liu Tianye, Qin Feng, and Wen Jiangyan sit down for dinner. Wen Qin cooked a feast. They talk about the land lease. Wen Qin thinks keeping their heads down is the safest play. She is wrong. The power cuts out in Longwan. Wen Qin goes outside to check. Luo Bo’s men run her over with a car.
Qin Feng Goes on a Rampage
The villagers rush to the hospital. Liu Tianye tries to keep everyone calm. He takes charge. But Qin Feng snaps. He grabs a video camera and storms into Luo Bo’s gambling den. He films the illegal activity. Then he beats every single goon in the room. He vents all his anger on them.
The police arrive to clean up the mess. They see the gambling evidence and arrest the thugs. Luo Bo plays the innocent businessman. He claims he doesn't know these people. He washes his hands of the whole thing.
Political Chess and Blackmail
Liu Tianye tries a different tactic. He visits the villagers. He knows the Zhao Village Head, Zhao Peng, only agreed to the lease out of fear. Liu wants the two villages to unite against the Jinding company. Luo Bo shows up at the ancestral hall to threaten them. Liu Tianye stands his ground. He refuses to negotiate.
Qin Feng finds a lead. He spots a suspicious Santana car linked to the night Hu Xiaoyue died. He thinks it holds the key. Liu Tianye, meanwhile, plays dirty. He tries to bribe a driver but gets nowhere. So he tracks Mayor Wu’s train schedule. He sends a friend to catch the Mayor in a compromising position. He wants leverage.
The Pool Hall Trap
Old Mai tracks down the Santana owner. The guy is a fake cop collecting protection money. Mai checks the trunk and confirms the police gear is fake. He and Qin Feng corner the guy at a pool hall. The owner panics. He jumps out a window and screams that the police are beating him. It’s a scene.
The real police haul Qin Feng in. Director Jiang is exhausted. He is sick of seeing Qin Feng at the station. He wants him gone. But Qin Feng gets comfortable. He lies down on the bench. He claims he needs a safe place to hide from his enemies. He leaves his phone on purposefully.
It turns out this was a setup. The pool hall boss works for Luo Bo. The debt is wiped if he frames Qin Feng. Luo Bo uses his connections to keep Qin Feng locked up. He wants him off the board.
