Spoiler Alert
The Fish That Started a War
You won't believe what kicked off this entire mess. A plate of undercooked fried yellow croaker. That is it. Zhao Qiang, a major shareholder at Penglai Group, ate some bad fish at a farmhouse. It triggered an old illness. He died. Just like that.
Now the sharks are circling. Zhao Qiang didn't have any kids. His shares are up for grabs. Wu Feifei and her family want those shares. They need to keep control of the company. They try to get Zhao’s widow, Li Ling, on their side. But there is a catch. Li Ling and Zhao never legally married. She has no rights to the inheritance.
This opens the door for Vice President Liu. He wants to take down the current chairman, Wu Guohao. That is Feifei’s dad. Liu is already making moves to buy up the shares at the upcoming shareholder meeting.
A Wedding for Votes
Feifei needs a plan. She needs the votes to beat Liu. Uncle Ming gets some intel. He finds out Liu is already bribing people. Feifei’s side is weak. Only He Mingli and Gao Lin are loyal to her dad. They need the support of "Uncle Xu" and his old crew.
Feifei decides to play dirty. Or at least, desperate. She takes Li Ling’s advice. She decides to marry Xu Zhiyang. He is Uncle Xu’s son. It is a strategic alliance. She doesn't know that Liu has already tried to bribe Xu Zhiyang too.
The shareholder meeting happens. Xu Zhiyang steps up. He takes the shares. Then he drops a bomb. He announces he is marrying Feifei. He grew up with the Wu family. This looks like a fairy tale to outsiders. Feifei just wants to save the company. She figures she can learn to love him later. Her dad is in the hospital. He says he doesn't want the shares if the marriage is fake. But the wedding is on.
The Other Woman
Xu Zhiyang has a secret of his own. Her name is Wang Dan. She is his "friend with benefits." She is not happy about the engagement. She decides to blackmail Feifei.
Feifei meets her. She tries to pay her off. She brings twenty thousand in cash. She tells Wang Dan to leave Binzhou. Wang Dan laughs at it. She doesn't want the money. She starts insulting Feifei. Feifei loses her cool. They get into a physical fight. Feifei shoves her. Wang Dan falls down the stairs.
Feifei panics. She thinks she killed her. She runs to her car and drives away. Then the adrenaline wears off. She realizes she can't leave a body there. She goes back to clean up the mess. But the body is gone. There is just a pile of leaves where Wang Dan used to be.
The Ghost in the Phone
Feifei steals Wang Dan’s phone. She sees texts coming in. They are from Xu Zhiyang. He is still messaging her. He figures out Feifei met with Wang Dan. He demands to see his ex one last time. He wants closure.
Feifei can't let that happen. She says no. Xu threatens to blow up the wedding. He says he will delay the share transfer. Feifei stands her ground. She acts like a jealous fiancée. In reality, she thinks Wang Dan is dead. She goes to find the landlady, Sister Lan. She asks about Wang Dan. She gets no answers.
The Stone Lion Cracks
Here is the real twist. Feifei didn't clean up anything. Her dad did. Wu Guohao has been pulling strings from the background. Wang Dan didn't die from the fall. Someone took her to the hospital.
But she didn't wake up normal. She woke up unhinged. She gets in a car. She drives straight to Penglai Plaza. She smashes the car into a massive stone lion statue. The statue cracks open. There are old bones inside. A skeleton has been hiding in that lion for years. The crash exposes everything. Penglai Group has some very dark secrets.
