Spoiler Alert
Moving Day Blues
Wang Chunsheng is finally packing up. He is moving his family out of Penglexuan. You can tell he hates it. This place is his life. He looks back at the building with total regret.
Ma Weiguo cares about his friend. But he doesn't show up to say goodbye. He thinks his presence will just upset Chunsheng more. Wang Fei tries to convince him otherwise. He knows his dad actually worries about Weiguo. But Weiguo stays away.
Weiguo isn't sitting idle, though. He still wants to save the restaurant. He wants Chunsheng to keep roasting ducks. So, he makes a deal with the devil. He meets with Dong Qian. Weiguo has Wang Fei’s trust now. He can track every move the three new partners make. Dong Qian is cynical. She knows the brothers will mess this up. She is just waiting for them to fail so she can swoop in. She only cares about the brand name anyway.
True Friends and Closed Doors
Tong Qiu proves he is the best friend anyone could ask for. He goes to see Weiguo. Weiguo acts like a child. He locks the door and pulls the curtains. He ignores the knocking. Tong Qiu doesn't leave. He keeps shouting until Weiguo finally caves.
Once inside, Tong Qiu drops a bombshell. He hands over his entire life savings. He knows Weiguo is in trouble. He wants to help. That is serious loyalty.
The Unhappy Chairman
Chunsheng starts his new job as Chairman. He dresses up in a fancy suit. He looks sharp, but he feels fake. Wang Fei sees right through him. The kid knows his dad just wants to be in the kitchen.
Chunsheng runs into Weiguo outside the restaurant. It is awkward. They exchange a stiff greeting. Weiguo walks away. Chunsheng watches him go. You can see the worry on his face. He misses his brother.
Later, the stress gets to Chunsheng. He goes to that old wall where they used to mark their height as kids. He talks to the bricks. He pours his heart out about missing Weiguo. He thinks he is alone. But Weiguo is walking by. He hears everything.
Cracks in the Partnership
The "dream team" is already falling apart. Li Lianbao and Tong Qiu visit Chunsheng with bad news. Tong Qiu got recalled to the main bank branch. He doesn't want to quit his secure job. Lianbao is furious. He wants Tong Qiu to quit and focus 100% on the business. Chunsheng sides with Tong Qiu. He tells Lianbao to back off.
Then the renovation starts. It is a mess. The workers ignore Chunsheng. They only listen to Lianbao. Chunsheng has to get Lianbao to verify his identity. That is humiliating for a Chairman.
They fight about the design too. Chunsheng wants retro. Lianbao wants modern. Then Tong Qiu asks for a reimbursement for a business dinner. Lianbao shuts him down. He says Tong Qiu is just a banker, not a salesman. The money arguments have started early.
The Trap is Set
Suppliers start swarming Chunsheng. They want contracts. They flatter him constantly. Chunsheng lets it go to his head. He gets a little arrogant. He even accepts gifts. This is a rookie mistake.
He goes home drunk and angry. He realizes the truth. He is a puppet. Nobody listens to him at work. He is being sidelined.
Weiguo gets this intel from Wang Fei. He decides it is time to act. He solidifies his partnership with Dong Qian. He also visits Jin Tong. He helps her clean up some old junk and tries to get her on his side. He wants back in. Meanwhile, Wang Fei keeps whispering in his dad's ear. He reminds Chunsheng that he has no real power. The pressure is building.
