Episode Summary
You Huang investigates Yan Li's murder, while Jiu Xuanye suspects Feng Wuniang. Duan Banxia is disturbed by Duan Yanqiu's interactions with an invisible Qu Manniang. Secrets are revealed through a special wine, and a cat demon intervenes.

You Huang is still digging into that inn. Remember Gao Sheng? Turns out he stayed there for four days, but the innkeeper is playing dumb. Jiu Xuanye, piecing things together from his own run-in with Duan Yanqiu, is convinced Duan Yanqiu knows more than he's letting on. You Huang wants to question him, but before she can, a villager arrives with a letter – You Huang's own letter, the one she sent with Yan Li to Constable Shi! And guess what? Yan Li's been found... dead.
Meanwhile, Feng Tian overhears You Huang talking to the villagers and gets all suspicious. He confronts Feng Wuniang, asking if she was the killer. Feng Wuniang denies it, saying she just wants to avoid embarrassing her dad. Feng Tian just wants his daughter to live a peaceful life.
In a seriously creepy scene, Duan Banxia finds Duan Yanqiu in his room, seemingly watching Qu Manniang dance. The catch? Duan Banxia can't see anyone! Duan Yanqiu is singing and dancing along with thin air. Duan Banxia is understandably freaked out.
Back at the murder scene, You Huang examines Yan Li's body. The killer was strong, but there are no clues in the wilderness.
Then, Feng Wuniang brings Duan Yanqiu some wine – the kind that lets you see the person you miss most. This raises Duan Banxia's suspicions, especially since Feng Wuniang previously acted like Duan Yanqiu didn't even exist. Duan Banxia tells Feng Wuniang to stay away from his brother.
Jiu Xuanye investigates the crime scene and deduces that the killer was injured in the fight, but there's no blood. Also, the killer tore the skin off Yan Li's back... with their bare hands. Jiu Xuanye figures out the killer is missing a finger and is hiding in the inn. He even finds a wooden ball at the scene.
You Huang and the gang return to the inn, and Jiu Xuanye asks Chi Xue if she's seen anyone missing a finger. Chi Xue immediately thinks of Feng Wuniang's servant, but when they go to check, Feng Wuniang has already reattached the finger! Jiu Xuanye is suspicious and warns Feng Tian to keep an eye on his people.
After Jiu Xuanye leaves, Feng Tian confronts Feng Wuniang about the servant's finger. They argue, and Feng Wuniang demands to be allowed to leave, like her brother did. Feng Tian refuses, reminding her that this is her home. Feng Wuniang threatens him, and Feng Tian slaps her. Feng Wuniang glares at him as he leaves. Yikes!
Duan Banxia visits Duan Yanqiu again, who admits he drinks to see Qu Manniang. Duan Yanqiu encourages Duan Banxia to try it, but Duan Banxia reminds his brother that their family is waiting for him. Duan Yanqiu doesn't want to leave.
Duan Banxia leaves Duan Yanqiu's room and is followed by Feng Wuniang.
Just as Feng Wuniang is about to attack Duan Banxia, a black cat appears! Duan Banxia realizes it's the cat demon, Jiu Ming, and gives chase. He runs into Jiu Xuanye, who was looking for him, and the black cat disappears. Duan Banxia believes the cat demon saved him. You Huang vows to avenge Yan Li's death.
Jiu Ming shows himself to Jiu Xuanye. Jiu Xuanye tells Chi Xue to protect Duan Banxia at all costs. Jiu Xuanye visits Duan Yanqiu and shares the special wine with him. He reveals that he used the wine to cope after killing his parents and brothers. He offers Duan Yanqiu the recipe and urges him to go home before it's too late. Feng Wuniang spies on their conversation with two eyeballs. Seriously.
Duan Yanqiu drinks the wine, and Qu Manniang appears before him. He says goodbye to her, and she vanishes.
Jiu Xuanye returns drunk, muttering that he knows everything he sees is fake. Duan Banxia helps him.
Finally, the cat demon is watching Feng Tian when Feng Wuniang chases after it with a wooden doll. Feng Wuniang warns the black cat to stay away from her father. The cat demon flees.
