"The Demon Hunter's Romance" Episode 14 Recap & Spoilers

So, things kick off with Duan Banxia playing nurse to a feverish Jiu Xuanye. Turns out, our boy is muttering about people being around him, which leads Duan Banxia to realize he's had a swig of that "Fu Bai Yin" (Translation? floating white drink). He's missing his family big time.

Meanwhile, Chi Xue is in a panic because Jiu Xuanye is burning up. She rushes to find Chu Youhuang for help, but guess what? Chu Youhuang is MIA! All that's left is Old Li, guarding Yan Li's body. Turns out, Chu Youhuang is off chasing leads on some shady servants, but it backfires. She gets jumped by a bunch of them, and even though she's slicing and dicing their legs, they magically heal themselves! Before you know it, Chu Youhuang is captured.

In a twist, Feng Tian tries to convince Feng Wuniang to shut down the inn and leave with him. He's all, "You don't like it here, let's just be a happy father-daughter duo!" Feng Wuniang's reaction? She laughs and praises his idea, acting like she's totally over the inn. Feng Tian even gives her a doll, but the moment he's gone, she tosses it in a drawer already overflowing with similar toys. Creepy, right? Then, those servants pop up to report that Chu Youhuang is now their prisoner.

Back with our favorite patient, Duan Banxia's TLC works its magic, and Jiu Xuanye wakes up. He's super grateful and promises to whisk her away from all this craziness once he's back on his feet.

But hold on, things are about to get weirder. Duan Banxia, Duan Yanqiu, Chu Youhuang, and even Feng Tian all wake up tied up in a room together. Jiu Xuanye is still out cold. Feng Tian tries to reason with Feng Wuniang, but she's having none of it. Turns out, it's her birthday, and since she's feeling lonely with just her dad, she decided to kidnap everyone for a party! The messed-up part? She doesn't even know when her real birthday is, she just picked a day that felt right. She wants some birthday noodles, but she can't taste anything and can barely swallow.

Feng Wuniang demands gifts, and Chu Youhuang tries to bargain for everyone's freedom. No dice. Instead, Feng Wuniang wants stories. Chu Youhuang reluctantly tells a tale, but Feng Wuniang dismisses it as a load of fake, "survival of the fittest" garbage.

Then it's Duan Yanqiu's turn. He tells a love story about him and Qu Manniang, but Feng Wuniang throws it back in his face, pointing out that Qu Manniang died because she couldn't leave Duan Yanqiu. Ouch!

Feng Wuniang then goes on a rant about how Feng Tian only created her to keep him company during his lonely days in the desert. She brings up a story about a sweet fruit tree back home that she wanted to taste, but they never went. She accuses Feng Tian of being afraid of her and never truly seeing her as family, trapping her in a cage of his own making. Feng Tian is in tears, and Feng Wuniang briefly cuddles him, soaking up the emotional moment.

Duan Banxia sees through Feng Wuniang's act, realizing she just craves affection. Feng Wuniang admits she admires Duan Banxia's looks and family, and plans to kill her and take her place! Apparently, her brother has already done the same with another family.

Just when things couldn't get any crazier, Jiu Xuanye suddenly speaks up, breaking free from his bonds! He reveals he was faking the whole time, just to expose Feng Wuniang. She attacks him, and a fight breaks out. Feng Wuniang is a master of puppets, controlling those servants like marionettes.

While Jiu Xuanye is busy fighting off the puppet army, Feng Wuniang confronts Duan Banxia. Duan Banxia discovers a puppet made in her image. Feng Wuniang then transforms into Duan Banxia, revealing that she's always wanted to be her. She wants to take over Duan Banxia's life, even though she knows Duan Banxia isn't happy.

Duan Banxia calls out Feng Wuniang's selfishness, saying she'll never truly be her. She points out that Feng Tian can't even go home because of her. Duan Banxia tells Feng Wuniang that no one is controlling her, it's her own twisted desires.

In a final showdown, Feng Wuniang tries to strangle Duan Banxia, but Duan Banxia uses her enchanted hand to blast her away. Duan Banxia grabs Jiu Xuanye's sword and makes a run for it!
