A Weird Invitation
The episode starts with Ye Xining and Xiang Beichuan eating instant noodles. It's a simple scene. You see just how small Xiang Beichuan's place is. He doesn't even have a good spot to hang his laundry.
So, Ye Xining gets an idea. She tells him he should come over to her dorm at night to use the washing machine. She makes up this story about her special twin-tub machine. One tub washes, and the other one spins dry. Xiang Beichuan has never heard of such a thing.
She insists he has to come at night. She says her roommate, Ling Jie, is super loud. Ling Jie apparently loves listening to traditional Chinese performances and storytelling. Ye Xining hints that having him over might get Ling Jie to quiet down.
A Big Win and a Jealous Coworker
Ye Xining finally lands that huge 5,000-unit order. She's been working hard for it. Her boss, Director Lu, is over the moon. He immediately gives her an employment contract. He also gives her a massive 20,000 yuan bonus.
This does not go over well with Ling Jie. She works in the same office. She's been there for years and has never seen a bonus that big. You can just feel the jealousy coming off her.
Soon enough, Ling Jie starts causing problems for Ye Xining. Ling Jie is in charge of buying raw materials. Ye Xining handles the clients and orders. A problem comes up with the supplies Ling Jie was supposed to buy. The cost of the raw materials is suddenly 50% higher than it should be. This mistake costs the factory over 100,000 yuan. Ye Xining suspects Ling Jie might have done it on purpose. But Ling Jie looks genuinely worried, so it's hard to be sure.
A New Partner, A Bigger Problem
Ye Xining remembers that a guy named Yan Jun wanted to invest in the factory. She figures his money could help them now. She goes to talk to him. It turns out Yan Jun has already done his homework on Director Lu's factory. He sees its potential and quickly agrees to invest.
With the new funds, they get the jeans order ready on time. Ye Xining, Ling Jie, and Xiang Beichuan all go along for the delivery. Xiang Beichuan is there representing the investor, Yan Jun.
The trip is a complete mess. It starts raining, the truck driver is difficult, and then the vehicle breaks down. They're forced to spend the night in a village along the way. The next morning, Ling Jie checks the shipment. She discovers the jeans are missing their factory and brand labels. For a company that does contract manufacturing, this is a huge breach of contract. The client could demand double compensation. It would also ruin their reputation in the industry. They have no choice but to turn back and take all the merchandise to the factory.
The Scheme Is Revealed
At first, Ling Jie thinks it's an inside job. But after they look into it, they find out the truth. Director Lu's own nephew was caught selling their previously made products.
Director Lu confesses that Yan Jun told him to do it. He claims Yan Jun said the jeans would have a wider market without the labels. That wasn't the only issue. The jeans were also made with cheap fabric, not the material they were supposed to use. This was also Yan Jun's idea.
Ye Xining feels terrible. She's the one who brought Yan Jun into the company. She feels responsible for the mess and the potential losses. She goes straight to Yan Jun to confront him. He doesn't put up a fight or make excuses. He just agrees to compensate the factory for the damages.
