Episode Summary
Lin Jinghan's attempt to get free hospital care for his pregnant mistress backfires when Xiao Yi exposes him as broke, leading to his public humiliation. Lin Jinghan's Pathetic Move
So, Lin Jinghan, who you know is Lin Siyun's good-for-nothing brother, actually shows up at the hospital. This is rare. He's not there for a friendly visit, of course. He wants to give Lin Siyun a gift. She's immediately suspicious and doesn't accept it.
Good call on her part. It turns out Jinghan has a new mistress. This woman is pregnant and just checked into the hospital. He wants Lin Siyun to waive all the fees for her. He's trying to play the big shot for his new woman.
Lin Siyun is stunned. She goes to the hospital room to see for herself. The situation is even worse than she thought. She finds her own sister-in-law—Jinghan's actual wife—on the floor, washing the mistress's feet. It's humiliating. Siyun immediately pulls her sister-in-law out of there and into her office.
Xiao Yi Saves the Day
This new mistress is acting like she owns the place. She completely believes the hospital belongs to Lin Jinghan.
But Xiao Yi is smart. She's been hanging out with Zhou Zhaoyuan, a friend who helped her when her own father was being awful. They've gotten close. She uses that same cleverness here.
Xiao Yi brings the mistress some food. While she's there, she quietly tells the woman the truth. Lin Jinghan doesn't have any money. He's actually drowning in debt. He can't even afford to pay the hospital bill he's already racked up.
When the mistress finds out she's been lied to, she is furious. She walks right up to Lin Jinghan and slaps him across the face several times.
Meanwhile, Xiao Yi tells her mom—Jinghan's long-suffering wife—to get a job. She points out that staying home to take care of this mistress is making her miserable and sick. Plus, she still has a young son to raise.

Zeng Da Lun is back from the northeast. He's working for Dai Li now, which makes him a much bigger deal than before.He and Shen Yiqun have a history of not getting along.
Shen Yiqun knows this. He also knows Zeng now has a powerful backer. So, he immediately tries to get on Zeng's good side. He wants to throw a big welcome banquet for him. Zeng refuses.
Shen Yiqun doesn't give up. He asks Cheng Ao to be the middleman.
A Dinner Full of Threats
Cheng Ao gets Zeng Da Lun to come to the dinner. At first, Zeng is just as rude to Shen Yiqun as you'd expect. But Shen isn't a pushover. He calls in his military police. They put a gun to Zeng Da Lun's head.
This is where Cheng Ao steps in. He can't let them kill Zeng. He grabs one of the guns and points it at his own head. He tells Shen Yiqun to go ahead and give the order to shoot.
Zeng Da Lun realizes he pushed things too far. To end the standoff, he grabs a chopstick and stabs it straight through his other hand. With Cheng Ao mediating, the situation finally cools down.
Now, Zeng Da Lun and Shen Yiqun work in the same department for the KMT. On the surface, they have to be professional. But underneath, everyone is just waiting to make their next move.

In the middle of all this, Cheng Ao is still working for the underground. He needs to get his hands on some scarce medical supplies and equipment. He gives a list of the items to Lin Siyun, hoping she can help. Even though the items are hard to get, she agrees to try.
A Movie and a First Move
Later, Cheng Ao asks Lin Siyun to go to the movies with him. While they're together, they talk about how to get the medical supplies. It turns out they have the same ideas.
For the first time, Cheng Ao reaches out and takes her hand. She doesn't pull away.
