A New Emperor's Shaky Start

The Good News and the Bad News
Fu Yixiao finally gets a moment to talk to Ning Fei. She tells him she'll always see him as a brother, no matter what. Her words seem to snap him out of his funk. He promises her he'll pull himself together.
Just then, Ling Xueying runs in with huge news. Feng Suige is awake. Fu Yixiao sprints to his room and throws her arms around him. It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. But it’s not all good news. He was in a coma for so long that a blood clot formed in his brain. He’s awake, but he can’t see. He's completely blind.
A Risky Cure
Fu Yixiao begs the doctors for help. Zhou Hao explains the situation. The clot is life-threatening. If they don't get rid of it, Feng Suige will die. The problem is, neither he nor Ling Feng can perform the procedure.
Zhou Hao mentions a woman named An Gu. Ling Feng immediately looks worried. He explains that An Gu is a master of poisons. She can save people, but her methods have a terrible side effect. Her patients lose their memories and are left in a constant daze. Fu Yixiao doesn't care about the risk. She begs Ling Feng to find her.
An Gu arrives and examines Feng Suige. She says her golden needle technique can dissolve the clot. But she warns them. The procedure will almost certainly erase some of his memories. Fu Yixiao wants to go ahead. Feng Suige, however, refuses. Fu Yixiao pleads with him until he finally gives in.

Xia Jingshi's Plot
Xia Jingshi is starting to make his own moves. He knows the ministers resent Xia Jingyan. He partners with the Minister of Revenue, Wang Encheng. They start working to convince other officials to join their cause.
Feng Xiyang's Sacrifice
Feng Xiyang has completely broken. Her father and brother are dead, and she is desperate to know who killed them. She confronts Xia Jingyan, who refuses to tell her. So, Feng Xiyang shoves pieces of a broken bowl into her mouth. She's ready to die for an answer.
Xia Jingyan is shocked by her insanity. He tells her to spit it out. She won't. He asks what she's willing to trade for the truth. Feng Xiyang goes for it. She pulls him into a desperate, frantic kiss. She is offering her body in exchange for the names of the killers. Xia Jingyan seems happy to make that trade.
A Cure Worse Than the Disease
A Final Promise
Before the procedure, Fu Yixiao makes a promise to Feng Suige. She tells him she will never leave him, even if he forgets who she is. She believes they are meant to be. She's sure they will find their way back to each other and fall in love all over again.
Waking Up to a Nightmare
It's time. They have to hold Feng Suige down as An Gu performs the needle treatment on his head. She tells them she has done all she can. They just have to wait for him to wake up.
Feng Suige's eyes open. He sees Fu Yixiao. And he attacks. He lunges at her, his hands wrapping around her throat. He tries to choke her to death. His eyes are filled with nothing but pure, cold hatred. Ling Feng and Lu Ke can barely restrain him. The shock of it all is too much, and Feng Suige passes out again. The cure worked, but it turned the love of his life into his mortal enemy.
