Fated Hearts: Episode 33 Recap and Spoilers

Episode Summary

The Empress Dowager puts a hit on Feng Xiyang, but Xia Jingyan stops it. The Fengyu Alliance implodes due to internal mistrust, leading to a violent confrontation and Lei Lie's heartbreak. As the alliance members scatter, Feng Suige learns that many of his closest friends have been killed.

The Empress Dowager Makes Her Move

So, Empress Dowager Jing is not happy. She learns that Feng Xiyang helped Xia Jingyan root out one of Xia Jingshi’s spies. Her reaction is pretty extreme. She immediately orders a hit on Feng Xiyang. She tells her people to get it done no matter what it takes.

This plays right into Feng Xiyang’s hands, though. She actually made a bet with Xia Jingyan. She gambled that his mother, the Empress Dowager, couldn't stand her. She predicted an assassination attempt was coming. And she was right.

That night, killers show up. But Xia Jingyan was prepared. His guards catch one of the assassins red-handed. Then Xia Jingyan walks up and kills the man himself. He doesn't even hesitate. It’s a clear message to his mother.

Chaos in the Fengyu Alliance

A Web of Betrayal

The Fengyu Alliance is falling apart from the inside. Feng Suige and Fu Yixiao have a bad feeling about Elder Zhou Hao. They believe he was testing them. To get answers, they go to Ning Fei.

Ning Fei drops a bombshell. He says Elder Lei Lie plans to ally with Xia Jingshi. Lei Lie even wanted Ning Fei to make the introduction. Ning Fei also mentions something strange. He’s seen Zhou Hao’s men practicing martial arts. This is weird because they are supposed to be scholars.

Feng Suige and Fu Yixiao put the pieces together. Zhou Hao has been planning to take down Lei Lie for a while. He might even be trying to use them to do it.

The Trap Springs

Just as they figure this out, Zhou Hao makes his move. He and his men from the Scholar branch knock out people from the Woodcutter branch. They try to make a run for it. Elder Feng Yi from the Farmer branch sees it all happen. He rushes to warn Lei Lie.

Lei Lie and Feng Yi gather their people and give chase. They run right into a trap. Zhou Hao and Elder Zhang Dongshi from the Fisher branch catch them in a massive net.

An Unlikely Rescue

The situation gets messy. Zhang Dongshi is about to fire an arrow, but Fu Yixiao shoots it out of the air. Feng Yi cuts the net. He kicks Zhang Dongshi away just as she tries to stab Lei Lie. Feng Yi is about to kill her, but Feng Suige stops him.

Zhou Hao and Zhang Dongshi are tied up. They argue with Lei Lie. Zhou Hao explains their side of the story. His words actually make a lot of sense. Lei Lie is stunned that they misunderstood his intentions so badly. The shock is too much, and he starts choking, unable to breathe.

In a surprising move, Feng Suige cuts Zhou Hao’s ropes. Zhou Hao immediately rushes to Lei Lie’s side. He helps him cough up a mouthful of blood. If he hadn't, Lei Lie would have died.

An Alliance Disbanded

After the confrontation, Lei Lie is a broken man. Everyone misinterpreted his hard work and sacrifice. He's completely disillusioned. Feng Suige hands a knife to Zhang Dongshi, giving her a chance to kill him. But he talks her down. She agrees to wait for him to uncover the truth about the original attack on the alliance.

Lei Lie decides to lift all restrictions. He tells the members they are free to leave the alliance. Many people take the offer and head out into the world.

Feng Suige and Fu Yixiao come to say their goodbyes. Lei Lie asks them for one favor. If they ever meet former alliance members who are struggling, they should help them. He asks them to make sure they don't starve and to send them back home. Feng Suige and Fu Yixiao agree.

Others are on the move, too. Ling Feng leaves a note saying he and An Gu are going traveling. Ling Xueying takes Ning Fei back to Zhengnian Villa so they can watch out for each other.

Trouble in the Capital

The Emperor's Power Play

Back in the capital, the new Emperor, Zhuang Jingyuan, is already making moves. Murong Zhong discusses a list of officials to promote. Zhuang Jingyuan basically ignores him. It’s clear he’s starting to push the Murong family away now that he has the throne.

Murong Zhong doesn't take this lightly. He subtly threatens the emperor. He brings up the fact that Feng Suige's fate is still unknown. Later, he tells Murong Yao what happened.

A Father-Son Showdown

Zhuang Jingyuan has his own family problems. He tells his son, Feng Chengyang, that it's time for him to get married. Feng Chengyang refuses. He then asks a dangerous question. He wants to know about the death of his real father, the previous emperor.

This sends Zhuang Jingyuan into a rage. He tells Feng Chengyang that he has lost all say in his own life. From now on, Zhuang Jingyuan will make all his decisions for him.
