Liu Ziyi's father goes missing, causing her to panic, but he later returns, having gone to a bathhouse with Aunt Jiang. Jiang Yu's Third Sister tries to convince him to move in with her, but he refuses. Wang Gaosheng faces financial troubles and a bribery accusation, which he denies. Xiao Jing leaves the hospital with her baby, telling Wu Dachuan to stay away. Wu Dachuan then files a complaint against Qin Wenbin. A comatose construction worker is transferred to Liu Ziyi's care, with financial issues complicating his treatment. Gu Shiyi explains to Jiang Yu why she won't date a colleague.

The episode opens with Liu Ziyi in a panic. She can't reach her father, and after finishing up at the hospital, she and Qin Wenbin rush to his home. Finding the house empty, Ziyi's anxiety spikes, but Wenbin tries to reassure her. Just as they're about to call the police, Ziyi's father returns with Aunt Jiang. It turns out they'd gone to a newly opened bathhouse, and it's now well past 2:00 AM. Wenbin, understanding the situation, decides to leave, making it clear that he gets why Ziyi was worried, especially since there had been a major pile-up near where her father was going. Ziyi's father clarifies that Aunt Jiang had simply left something behind and came back to retrieve it. Relieved, Ziyi also leaves. Meanwhile, Jiang Yu and Gu Shiyi discuss Ziyi's unusual distress on their way home from work, with Shiyi noting she's never seen Ziyi so shaken.
Back at his place, Jiang Yu finds a pair of high heels and discovers his Third Sister asleep in his room. The next morning, she urges Jiang Yu to move in with her, explaining that she's scared living alone in her large house, especially with her recent heart problems. Jiang Yu firmly refuses. His sister can't understand why he insists on living in his small apartment. When she hears someone outside calling for him to go to work, she suspects he has a secret reason for staying put.
Wang Gaosheng is facing financial difficulties. He learns about online loans from his apprentice and is about to try one when Wenbin arrives to check on him. Gaosheng quickly closes the screen, arousing Wenbin's suspicion, but Gaosheng doesn't reveal the truth. Later, Gaosheng is called in by the department director. He's been holding back his frustration regarding a patient's family insisting on changing surgeons. During the conversation with the director, Gaosheng discovers that the patient's family had secretly slipped money into his desk drawer, which Doctor Zheng witnessed but didn't report. Gaosheng is furious, claiming he had no knowledge of the bribe and would never have accepted it. He personally returns the money to the family, emphasizing that his dedication to performing the surgery isn't about money, but he respects their choice and expects them to respect him as well.
Xiao Jing is ready to be discharged with her baby. Her parents will be helping her raise the child. Wu Dachuan comes to see the baby, and Xiao Jing tells him to say goodbye, firmly stating that he shouldn't bother them anymore. Dachuan wants the child, but Xiao Jing is adamant about not giving the baby to him. With Wenbin and a security guard's help, Xiao Jing and her family leave the hospital safely. Later, Dachuan files a complaint against Wenbin, accusing him of violent tendencies, resulting in Wenbin having to write a self-criticism report.
Liu Ziyi receives a transferred patient who has been in a coma for five days after surgery. The patient, a construction worker injured on the job, is in critical condition. The construction company's leadership is unwilling to continue paying for medical expenses, and the family is out of money. However, because the patient is unconscious, Ziyi has no choice but to continue treatment.
Jiang Yu is still curious about why Gu Shiyi refuses to "date within the workplace". Shiyi finally admits she knows his feelings but finds it awkward to date a colleague. She explains that if they were to break up, one of them would have to leave the hospital, which she sees as a loss. She's already thinking about a potential breakup before the relationship even starts. Jiang Yu doesn't understand her logic. Shiyi believes that matters of the heart are unpredictable, pointing out that even Wenbin got married and then divorced. She concludes that she's not ready to start a romantic relationship with a coworker.
