Spoiler Alert
First off, a little bit of sunshine: Li Lefan has finally decided to give things a real shot with Cheng Xu! After all that back and forth, Cheng Xu was, as you can imagine, absolutely thrilled. It’s about time these two stopped dancing around each other, and honestly, it’s nice to see a relationship actually moving forward smoothly for a change.
Now, onto the main event: the whole messy situation with Bai Cheng and Chen Meishu. This has been a major point of contention, and Qin Tianyue, playing the role of the much-needed outside perspective, didn't pull any punches. She basically told both Feng Qingming (Chen Meishu's son) and Bai Jiang (Bai Cheng's son) that they were both being pretty selfish and not really considering what their parents actually wanted. You go, Qin Tianyue!
Her words clearly hit home for Feng Qingming. He actually took her advice and arranged for Bai Cheng to bring Bai Jiang back for a sit-down to hash things out. So, Feng Qingming and Chen Meishu agreed to sign a prenuptial agreement. But then, in a classic TV drama twist, Feng Qingming produced another agreement. His point? Even though Chen Meishu might not have Bai Cheng's wealth, her savings represented a lifetime of hard work, so Bai Jiang needed to sign an agreement acknowledging that too. Bai Jiang, to his credit, saw the fairness in it and signed without a fuss.
But hold on, because Feng Qingming wasn't done! He then dramatically tore up the agreement he’d just had Bai Jiang sign! He laid into Bai Jiang, accusing him of not thinking about his father and putting the elderly couple in a difficult spot. This, understandably, made Bai Cheng furious with his son, even threatening to disown him. Talk about a tense family gathering!
Later that evening, Feng Qingming was over at Qin Tianyue's place, and they were dissecting the day's drama. Qin Tianyue, wise as ever, pointed out that while Feng Qingming might have felt he’d made a grand gesture or looked like the bigger person compared to Bai Jiang, he hadn't really considered Bai Cheng's happiness. And if Bai Cheng isn't happy, then Chen Meishu won't be happy, which ultimately means Feng Qingming won't be happy either. She really pushed him to think it over.
And it worked! The next day, a more reflective Feng Qingming went to find Bai Jiang. He actually apologized for his harsh words and acknowledged that he understood Bai Jiang's struggles, living in a different city and supporting his own family. He even promised that if Bai Cheng and Chen Meishu did get together, he would take good care of them both. Then, Feng Qingming took Bai Jiang to a spot where they could see Bai Cheng and Chen Meishu interacting, and they looked genuinely happy together. This seemed to be the turning point for Bai Jiang. He approached his father, admitted his selfishness (finally!), and returned the property deed and bank cards, telling his dad it was his money to spend as he wished. He also promised to bring his wife and kids back for the wedding banquet. It looks like this family feud might finally be on the mend!
Just when you thought things were settling down, Na Jie arrived in Ningzhou with some bombshell news for Qin Tianyue. Headquarters had decided to shut down Si Ting Ni. Ouch. They did offer Qin Tianyue a Deputy Director position back in Shenzhen, though.
Qin Tianyue then told Feng Qingming about the closure, adding that she’d played the "bad guy" delivering bad news for too long; this time, it was his turn. So, Feng Qingming had the unpleasant task of informing the Si Ting Ni staff at a meeting that the company was closing and they’d need to find new jobs. But then, Qin Tianyue walked in and dropped another bomb: she had officially resigned from the parent company! She declared that she wasn't giving up on Si Ting Ni and believed they could make it work as an independent venture. She’d even spent the previous night crunching all the numbers. What a power move!
The team was immediately fired up, with everyone enthusiastically stating their willingness to stick with Qin Tianyue and even chip in with investments. Feng Qingming, fully supportive, declared that as long as they were all together, the company wouldn't fold. And just like that, Si Ting Ni was officially reborn as a new company named "Cheng Jia" and reopened its doors!
Phew! What an episode. From mended family ties to a brand-new company rising from the ashes, Episode 36 definitely kept us on our toes. Now we just have to see if "Cheng Jia" can thrive and if the newfound peace in the Bai family will actually last!
