Episode Summary
After Wu Dengke's suicide attempt, Zhao Jiadi breaks ties with his father, Zhao Xin, and vows revenge. He seeks refuge with his friend Shang Bao in Hai Cheng. Meanwhile, Qi Dongcao leaves Jin Hai to start her own company, refusing Zhao Xin's offer of assets. Zhao Jiadi receives an unexpected investment from an online friend, while Cai Yanzhi warns him about challenging Zhao Xin.

"Zhao Jiadi Season 2" Episode 4: Recap & Spoilers
Episode 4 kicks off with some serious fallout from Wu Dengke's dramatic leap. Zhao Jiadi and Qi Dongcao rush Wu Dengke to the hospital. Zhao Xin, along with his executives, also arrives to check on the situation, as Wu Dengke's public suicide attempt reflects poorly on Jin Hai. Wu Dengke's mother shows up, understandably distraught, and blames Zhao Jiadi. Thankfully, the doctors manage to stabilize Wu Dengke, giving Zhao Jiadi a moment of relief.
Later, standing in the rain outside the hospital, Zhao Jiadi confronts Zhao Xin. He declares two things: he will never change his last name, and that he's cutting ties with Zhao Xin as his father. He also vows to take back what was Wu Dengke's and avenge his friend. Zhao Xin remains silent, simply watching Zhao Jiadi walk away.
Meanwhile, over at the Hai Cheng docks, Chen Zhuhe is causing trouble while searching for goods. He gets so aggressive that he ends up hurting some workers, who then detain him. Cai Yanzhi arrives first, followed by Wei Jinghai. Seeing the injured workers, Wei Jinghai orders Chen Zhuhe to apologize to Cai Yanzhi. After Wei Jinghai gives her an opening, Cai Yanzhi tells the workers to release Chen Zhuhe. Then, Wei Jinghai asks Cai Yanzhi to help him undermine Zhao Xin in the mining area. Cai Yanzhi makes it clear that she doesn't care about Zhao Xin but warns Wei Jinghai that if he harms Zhao Jiadi, he'll face her wrath.
Having left Jin Hai, Zhao Jiadi finds himself on a train to Hai Cheng, essentially starting over with nothing. Overwhelmed by emotions, he decides to rely on his childhood friend, Shang Bao. Shang Bao takes Zhao Jiadi back to his dorm, provides him with some clothes and shoes. A roommate, Da Hua, makes some snide remarks, worried about being associated with Zhao Jiadi's troubles, which nearly leads to a fight. Zhao Jiadi steps in to prevent it.
After Da Hua and the others leave, Zhao Jiadi sits alone on the bed. Shang Bao borrows some money to buy food and drinks to cheer up Zhao Jiadi. On his way back, Shang Bao is surprised to find Zhao Jiadi waiting for him. Zhao Jiadi asks about the acquisition of Shang Bao's startup, but Shang Bao brushes it off with a forced smile, leaving Zhao Jiadi feeling uneasy.
Elsewhere, Qi Dongcao completes her handover and informs Zhao Xin that she's leaving Jin Hai to start her own Jinzhao Group. Zhao Xin, who has always treated Qi Dongcao like a daughter, offers her half of Jin Hai's assets as a dowry. She politely declines, feeling guilty for disappointing him. They have a heartfelt conversation, and as Qi Dongcao leaves, Zhao Xin says that he will truly be alone once she leaves. Qi Dongcao tearfully closes the office door, reminding him to take care of himself.
Later, Shang Bao takes Zhao Jiadi to an old apartment in the older part of town. Since the area often experiences power outages, they light candles and drink together. Shang Bao reassures Zhao Jiadi that Wu Dengke is out of danger and that they will eventually rise again. However, Zhao Jiadi is feeling lost and hasn't figured out how to make money. Shang Bao insists that he's happy to follow Zhao Jiadi no matter what.
Just then, Cai Yanzhi calls, asking Zhao Jiadi to send her his address. That night, Zhao Jiadi struggles to sleep, reflecting on the past. He realizes that he never cared about power or influence, but rather the authenticity that Zhao Xin lacked. A female online friend, "Fan Hua Si Jin," messages him, and after learning about his troubles, offers him 100,000 as an investment, saying that 90% of the world's problems can be solved with money, and the other 10% can be eased with it.
Zhao Jiadi is shocked when he receives a bank notification confirming the transfer. He can't believe that someone would be so generous. The next morning, Cai Yanzhi visits Zhao Jiadi, reminding him that he's not yet in a position to challenge Zhao Xin. However, she understands his passion and loyalty. Zhao Jiadi secretly vows to find a way to get back what was Wu Dengke's.
