Episode Summary
Jiang Xiao is hospitalized after a suicide attempt, prompting heavy security led by Cao Jin. Lu Fan arrives, debating the killer Shen Yuan's motives with Cao Jin. Ning Zhen learns of Jiang Xiao's situation and goes to the hospital in disguise. Lu Fan identifies and pursues a fake doctor (Shen Yuan), who escapes after an encounter involving Ning Zhen. Meanwhile, Jiang Xiao escapes his guarded room with help from a fake nurse, just as Shen Yuan arrives. Shen Yuan recaptures Jiang Xiao and briefly takes him to Wu Keran before attempting to leave the hospital. They run into Lu Fan and Ning Zhen; Jiang Xiao shouts for help and escapes during the confusion. The chase leads to the rooftop where Mo Bei intercepts Shen Yuan, allowing Jiang Xiao to flee. Shen Yuan locks himself and Ning Zhen on the roof for a confrontation. Mo Bei takes Jiang Xiao to his sister, Jiang Yan, who unexpectedly threatens him with a knife.

This episode picks right up with Jiang Xiao in critical condition at the hospital. The guy actually bit through an artery in his wrist in a suicide attempt! Talk about desperate measures. Understandably, Captain Cao Jin has the place locked down tighter than a drum. He's clearly spooked about a repeat of whatever went down with Zhang Jianmin at a hospital previously.
Lu Fan arrives on the scene, and Cao Jin, worried about his safety, basically tells him to get lost. Lu Fan tries to reassure him, arguing that since Jiang Xiao is already sentenced to death, the mysterious serial killer known as 'Shen Yuan' (which translates to 'Deep Abyss' – creepy, right?) probably won't bother showing up now. Cao Jin isn't convinced. He believes Shen Yuan is motivated by revenge for that old Cangbei Nude Corpse Case and likely doesn't trust the justice system anyway – hence the killing spree. Lu Fan insists he won't let another Zhang Jianmin incident happen on his watch.
Meanwhile, Ning Zhen is at home, looking at a photo of her mother and wondering about her whereabouts, when she gets a text from Lu Fan updating her on Jiang Xiao. Wasting no time, she disguises herself and heads straight to the hospital, which Cao Jin has turned into a fortress with careful security placements.
Lu Fan is playing it sneaky, keeping an eye on things from outside Jiang Xiao's room. Once Cao Jin steps away, Lu Fan slips in. At the same time, Wu Keran also gets word that Jiang Xiao is in the hospital. She finds out his room number and quickly sends a message out via her phone (hmm, wonder who that went to?).
As Lu Fan leaves Jiang Xiao's room, he spots a doctor looking mighty suspicious. He follows the guy into an elevator and tests him with a question about the location of the ultrasound room. When the 'doctor' gives the wrong answer, Lu Fan knows he's got an imposter. Just as he's about to make his move, the elevator doors open into a crowded area, and the fake doctor makes a break for it! Lu Fan gives chase, phoning Cao Jin to alert him.
The chase leads to a physical fight between Lu Fan and the imposter. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, Ning Zhen appears! Her sudden arrival startles the fake doctor enough for him to slip away again. Alerted to the infiltrator, Cao Jin rushes back to Jiang Xiao's room – it's secure, thankfully – but now he's worried sick about Lu Fan. Ning Zhen and Lu Fan continue their search and find the actual morgue doctor knocked out and locked up, confirming the imposter's presence and actions. They immediately race off again.
Back in Jiang Xiao's hospital room, things go sideways. The two police officers standing guard are suddenly unconscious! Someone dressed as a nurse calmly unlocks Jiang Xiao's handcuffs. As Cao Jin orders a full hospital search, Jiang Xiao, now changed out of his hospital gown, slips out of his room and tries to sneak out of the hospital.
Just moments after Jiang Xiao leaves his room, the fake doctor – who we can safely assume is Shen Yuan – arrives. Seeing the unconscious cops and Jiang Xiao gone, Shen Yuan immediately pursues him, catching up just as Jiang Xiao is waiting for an elevator.
Ning Zhen and Lu Fan arrive at Jiang Xiao's now-empty room. They realize he must have escaped after the hospital lockdown began, meaning he's still somewhere inside the building. Lu Fan quickly relays this to Cao Jin.
Elsewhere, Jiang Xiao's sister, Jiang Yan, is anxiously waiting for news at home. Getting none, she calls Mo Bei, who has been waiting outside the hospital. Hearing about the chaos inside, she tells Mo Bei to get into the hospital himself.
Shen Yuan doesn't take Jiang Xiao far – he drags him to Wu Keran's hospital room. Wu Keran, consumed by the need for revenge for her father, urges Shen Yuan to kill Jiang Xiao immediately. Shen Yuan promises he will kill Jiang Xiao, but tells Wu Keran pointedly that he doesn't want her involved any further.
Shen Yuan leads Jiang Xiao out of Wu Keran's room... and runs straight into Ning Zhen and Lu Fan. Seeing a potential rescue, Jiang Xiao shouts out to Ning Zhen for help. Seizing the moment while Shen Yuan is distracted, Jiang Xiao breaks free and makes a run for it. Shen Yuan takes off after him, and Ning Zhen and Lu Fan are right behind both of them.
The chase leads all the way up to the hospital rooftop. Just as Shen Yuan is about to grab Jiang Xiao again, Mo Bei suddenly appears! He blocks Shen Yuan, allowing Jiang Xiao to get past him. Ning Zhen arrives on the roof right after. Thinking fast, Shen Yuan slams the rooftop access door shut and locks it, trapping himself and Ning Zhen alone on the roof for a confrontation. Cao Jin and his team arrive at the locked door but can't break it down; they can only watch the fight unfolding between Ning Zhen and Shen Yuan through the door's small window gap.
So, where did Jiang Xiao run off to with Mo Bei's help? Mo Bei leads him directly to his sister, Jiang Yan. Jiang Xiao is overwhelmed with relief to see her. But just as he's about to make his escape, Jiang Yan presses a knife into his back from behind.
Whoa! Talk about a cliffhanger ending for the episode! Looks like Jiang Xiao jumped from one deadly situation right into another, and Ning Zhen is trapped facing off against Shen Yuan. Can't wait to see what happens next!
