Spoiler Alert
Right off the bat, we see Liu Zhendong stepping out of a hospital room, only to nearly collide with Huang Zhongxin lurking in a shadowy hallway. And let me tell you, Huang Zhongxin looked like he hadn't slept in days, eyes totally bloodshot, staring daggers. Just as Liu Zhendong thinks about turning back, Huang Zhongxin, clutching a brick (yes, a BRICK!), lunges at him. Talk about a close call! Liu Zhendong, quick as ever, whips out his gun and presses it right to Huang Zhongxin's forehead, basically telling him to cool his jets and stop being so reckless. He lays it out plain and simple: if he’d ever had any romantic feelings for Cheng Nanping, he wouldn't have waited until now. To him, Cheng Nanping has always been like a little sister.
Hearing this, Huang Zhongxin just crumbles. The brick drops, and he slumps against the wall, a sobbing mess. You can't really blame the guy; it was supposed to be his wedding day, and it all went spectacularly wrong. Liu Zhendong, while clearly not thrilled, gets it. But he also reminds Huang Zhongxin that as a member of the Shanhai Gang, he should be tougher than this. If he keeps wallowing, even Liu Zhendong will start to lose respect for him. Meanwhile, across town, James is chewing out one of his underlings, who promises to personally take Liu Zhendong down. So, you know, just another Tuesday for Liu Zhendong.
Later that night, Liu Zhendong is trying to drink away his troubles in the courtyard when Liu Suibian brings him some hot soup. Liu Suibian is beating himself up, thinking he's the one who indirectly caused the whole misunderstanding with Cheng Nanping. Liu Zhendong doesn't blame him, though. He just peeks in on his sleeping son, says a few quiet words to Liu Suibian, and then heads out.
Things aren't any quieter in the prison yard. Cheng Hui, looking frail and leaning on She Yan for support, is trying to get some sun when he runs into an old enemy, Weng Fucai. This Weng Fucai is bad news – apparently, he once kidnapped a rich merchant's kid, took the ransom, and still killed the child. The Shanhai Gang eventually brought him to justice. Seeing Cheng Hui down on his luck, Weng Fucai and his goons surround him with nasty grins, and a brawl kicks off almost immediately. Zhao Tiehan jumps into the fray, and it's a full-on melee until the prison guards blow their whistles and rush in to break it up.
Elsewhere, Cheng Nanping is seeing her father, Cheng Hui, plastered all over the newspapers, accused of all sorts of crimes. She decides she's had enough and is going to use her writing to clear his name – her pen will be her sword. In stark contrast, Hong Yan gets all dolled up and waltzes into the police station to visit Zheng Qiu. The two start raking over old coals, and Hong Yan, being the master manipulator she is, deliberately pushes Zheng Qiu's buttons. It works. Zheng Qiu loses his cool and blurts out that he was the one who arranged for pirates to kill Cheng Hui back in the day! He also reveals that A'Zhen overheard the plan and risked her life to warn Cheng Hui, messing up his entire scheme.
