Episode Summary
Guan Xu's attempt to cheer up a seemingly lonely Uncle Yang leads to an outing with Yu Shi, featuring a comical car ride and a shared photo. Meanwhile, Shen Xinxin's efforts to help his socially anxious patient, Wang Kankan, are criticized by Yu Shi for being forceful. Uncle Yang turns out to be quite sociable, leaving Guan Xu feeling a bit foolish. Yu Shi wisely sidesteps a bad blind date. Guan Xu's Day Out Takes a Turn
So, our guy Guan Xumet this sweet older gentleman, Uncle Yang , during a consultation. Turns out, Uncle Yang's wife passed away a year ago, and they didn't have any kids. Guan Xu, being the softie he is, got worried about the old man being lonely and set up a weekend hangout at Fengfan Square.
Enter Yu Shi ! She heard about Guan Xu's plan and, in a classic Yu Shi move, borrowed Shen Xinxin'scar to chauffeur them. The car ride itself was a mini-drama. Guan Xu couldn't resist some backseat driving, nagging Yu Shi about her speed. Well, Yu Shi wasn't having it and decided to show him what "fast" really meant. Let's just say Guan Xu ended up super carsick. Serves him right, maybe?
Once they got to the riverside, Uncle Yang, who's a big photography buff, had Yu Shi snap a photo of him. Then, he played matchmakerand took a pic of Yu Shi and Guan Xu together. Cute! At Fengfan Square, who do they bump into? None other than Shen Xinxin, who was there with his patient, Wang Kankan .
The Curious Case of Wang Kankan and Shen Xinxin's "Help"
Here's the deal with Wang Kankan: she's getting physiotherapy from Shen Xinxin and is painfully socially anxious. Like, she's known at her office for being "the boring one." Her colleagues and boss, while not exactly lining up to be her BFF, have no problem dumping tasks on her because she just can't say no. This trip to Fengfan Square? Yep, she was strong-armed into babysitting for her boss, Manager Li .
Shen Xinxin, seeing how stressed Wang Kankan was, offered to tag along. His big idea was to teach her how to chat with kids and basically "fix" her social awkwardness so she could "fit in." Noble intentions, maybe, but Yu Shi was not on board. When she found out, she laid into Shen Xinxin, arguing that Wang Kankan should be allowed to live life in a way that's comfortable for her, and that he shouldn't be pushing her to change. You tell him, Yu Shi!
Plot Twist: Uncle Yang is Doing Just Fine!
Back to Uncle Yang – turns out Guan Xu's worries about his loneliness were a tad misplaced. The man was a social butterfly! He quickly made friends with a new elderly lady at the square, and they were off dancing and taking pictures. Guan Xu was left feeling a bit foolish, like he’d totally overthought the whole thing and maybe got his own feelings played a bit. Yu Shi, ever the pragmatist, comforted him, basically saying, "Hey, sometimes things don't go how you expect, and that's okay. Roll with it."
Meanwhile, in Other News...
- Yu Shi's Non-Date: Sister Zhutried to set Yu Shi up on a blind date. But Yu Shi, after chatting with the guy online and realizing they had zero chemistry, decided not to even meet him. Why waste time, right?
- Shen Xinxin's Redemption Arc : The next weekend, Shen Xinxin ran into Wang Kankan at Fengfan Square again. This time, he did the right thing and apologized, telling her she should live her life her own way and doesn't have to change for anyone. Growth! We love to see it.
Guan Xu Catches Feelings
Now, for the juicy part! Guan Xu hearing about Yu Shi’sblind date? Yeah, he was definitely feeling some type of way. It's dawning on him that his feelings for Yu Shi are evolving into something more.
This became super clear during a community clinic outreach event. Guan Xu was practically a hawk, watching Yu Shi. He noticed she was hotand, when he went to buy water, he thoughtfully bought fans too. To avoid any office gossip, he cleverly bought fans for everyone. Smooth, Guan Xu, smooth.
But his attentiveness didn't go unnoticed. Nurse Xiao Tan , who clearly has a crush on Guan Xu, showed up at the outreach, hoping to ask him out for dinner and a movie. Guan Xu, to his credit, was direct and told her he already likes someone else. Ouch for Nurse Xiao Tan, but good on Guan Xu for being honest.
Nurse Xiao Tan, however, is observant. She put two and two together and figured out that Guan Xu's "someone" is probably Yu Shi. So, what does she do? She runs off to tell Zhao Dongchengthat "something's up with Guan Xu" and that he should "keep an eye on him." Zhao Dongcheng was just left completely baffled. Oh, the drama!
