Dear Enemy: Episode 19

Spoiler Alert

The episode kicks off with Luo Man trying her best to sweet-talk Fang Chi into participating in that hospital documentary. She even treats him to a meal, arguing that it's a golden opportunity to show the world how incredibly hard medical staff have been working and what a meaningful job it is. But Fang Chi, ever the busy bee, isn't biting. He seems more interested in watching Luo Man squirm and reminds her to eat, even though she's clearly lost her appetite from the stress of convincing him.

Later, Fang Chi has camping plans with Tiao Tiao, but guess who crashes the party? Luo Man! She shows up claiming Tiao Tiao has a fever (suuure, Luo Man, suuure) and takes her place. The two end up having a surprisingly cozy time, grilling food and playing with fireworks. Fang Chi even whips up his special "three skewers and a pancake" hospital snack for her. It's all very sweet and gives them a much-needed break.

During their heart-to-heart, Luo Man admits she gets why Fang Chi might be hesitant – the competition to stay at the hospital is fierce, especially with standouts like Liu Yiran also in the running (who, by the way, is doing the show). She thinks the documentary could give Fang Chi an edge and get him noticed by the higher-ups. Fang Chi, however, is pretty chill about it, saying Liu Yiran is genuinely talented, and it's no big deal if he's outshone.

Luo Man then opens up about her own competitive nature, confessing her dad raised her like a "competition dog," always needing to be number one. It’s exhausting, she admits. Fang Chi offers a different perspective on "winning" in their profession: for him, it’s not about being first or second, but about making the right diagnosis for every single patient. That’s the real victory.

Then, things get a little… intense. Fang Chi suddenly asks Luo Man if her need to win applies to relationships too. Boom! Luo Man is totally flustered. After a moment of awkward silence, she suggests they turn in for the night. Since it’s too late to head down the mountain, they have to share the tent. Fang Chi playfully asks if she trusts him that much, and Luo Man just brushes him off, calling him a "kid." But then, Fang Chi leans in close, and just as Luo Man is frozen in anticipation, he bursts out laughing, teasing her that her heart rate just hit 120! Oh, these two!

The next day, Luo Man is all business, prepping video materials for Chen Kaixi. When Chen Kaixi casually asks about the camping trip, Luo Man gets all cagey and avoids mentioning Fang Chi. It seems his little pursuit is definitely getting to her, and she's not quite sure how to explain the complicated vibes to her friend.

Meanwhile, the hospital documentary filming is officially underway, and Luo Man is running around like a headless chicken. We also get a peek into Jiang Dao and Zhong Qingcheng's world. They’re out to dinner with a certain Xu Ge, who starts giving Jiang Dao a hard time. Quick-witted Zhong Qingcheng jumps in, smoothing things over with compliments and toasts, and actually ends up befriending Xu Ge. Impressed and grateful, Jiang Dao later confesses his feelings for Zhong Qingcheng, even opening up about his previous marriage. Zhong Qingcheng, however, gently lets him down, saying she doesn't see them as a couple, though she knew he had feelings for her. Ouch.

Back to our main duo! After a super long day, Luo Man crashes on a hospital chair and drifts off. Fang Chi quietly joins her, and they end up asleep, leaning on each other. Fang Chi wakes first and finds Luo Man clinging to him tightly – and he just soaks in the sweet moment. When Luo Man wakes up, she plays it cool, praising this "little brother" for being so considerate and letting her rest, but inwardly, she's totally giddy.

Later, Luo Man captures a heartwarming moment on camera: Fang Chi kindly sending off a young patient, giving her instructions with a warm smile. It really touches Luo Man, reminding her that being a doctor is about more than just treating illnesses; it's about providing comfort and being a rock for patients.

Then, cue the drama! A sudden downpour hits. But instead of a classic rom-com umbrella scene, Fang Chi hands Luo Man a plastic bag, and they make a dash for it, hand-in-hand, getting completely drenched. Back at her place, Luo Man helps Fang Chi dry his clothes, and let's just say she gets a little flustered by his abs (who wouldn't be?). Fang Chi starts to walk towards her, and the tension is thick, but then – plot twist! – the rain stops, and he turns to pack his things. Luo Man realizes this "little brother" is totally playing her with the ol' push-and-pull, and she can't help but crack a sweet smile. He’s got game!

The next day, Chen Kaixi gets Luo Man and Zhong Qingcheng together. Chen Kaixi mentions how Chen Mian is super invested in Fang Chi’s marriage prospects, acting like he’s Fang Chi’s dad. Zhong Qingcheng arrives late, super apologetic as always due to her busy social schedule, and barely touches her food, mostly just listening to the gossip. She does reveal that Chen Mian's company hit a rough patch but Zhou Musun stepped in to help sort things out. Just as they're chatting, Zhong Qingcheng gets another call and has to dash off, leaving Chen Kaixi feeling a bit out of the loop, especially since she wanted to help Chen Mian but only heard about his problems (and their resolution) secondhand.

Back at the hospital, the director wants to reshoot that scene of Fang Chi with the patient. When the director can't get Fang Chi to agree, he asks Luo Man to talk to him. But Luo Man flat-out refuses, arguing that it's a documentary and staging scenes would ruin the authenticity. The director, annoyed that Luo Man is siding with Fang Chi, punishes her by reassigning her to film in the emergency department. Little does she know, Fang Chi overheard her standing up for him.

So, Fang Chi goes to thank Luo Man. But she, trying to keep things professional (or maybe just flustered?), insists that her stance on not staging scenes would apply to anyone, not just him. This clearly disappoints Fang Chi, who was probably hoping he was a bit more special in her eyes. Luo Man doubles down, saying there’s nothing different about their situation. Oof, mixed signals much?

Because Luo Man keeps defending Fang Chi, the director keeps throwing her into tricky communication situations. And for her next assignment? She has to talk to none other than Zhou Musun! The episode ends with the two of them meeting again, locking eyes. Dun dun dun!
