Episode 7 Recap & Spoilers
The episode kicks off with Aliya discovering that the young women at the private school have been bullying her husband, Ji Mo. Determined to ease his troubles, Aliya steps in as a teaching assistant to maintain order in the classroom. She publicly lays down the law: any open defiance will be met with her silver acupuncture needles. Faced with the sight of the long needles, the usually pampered young ladies quickly fall in line, even moving their desks further away from the teaching platform, no longer daring to misbehave.
Meanwhile, the Imperial Consort, who has always favored Fu Yunnuo and sought to make life difficult for Fu Chenjin, learns that a princess from the Xilin Kingdom is treating Fu Chenjin's leg. Fearing he might actually be cured, the Consort immediately sways the Emperor with her words. The very next day, Fu Chenjin is summoned to the palace where a female physician named Bi Lian is instructed to perform acupuncture on him in public. This malicious Bi Lian deliberately targets excruciatingly painful acupoints, twisting the needles to maximize his suffering, causing Fu Chenjin to tremble uncontrollably. The Emperor, however, misinterprets this as a sign of Bi Lian's skill and agrees to let her stay at Fu Chenjin's residence, the Prince's Mansion, to administer daily acupuncture and a regimen of medicinal meals.
Upon returning to his mansion, Fu Chenjin recognizes this as another of the Consort’s schemes and realizes he needs to accelerate his escape plans. However, he hesitates, unsure how to arrange for Qiao Manman. Just then, he’s informed that Bi Lian has already moved in with her luggage, and that Qiao Manman has gone to meet her. Worried that a fight might break out between the two women, Fu Chenjin has his attendant wheel him over. In front of Qiao Manman, Fu Chenjin deliberately greets Bi Lian with exaggerated warmth. Qiao Manman, angered, storms off. Once she's gone, Fu Chenjin drops the charade and also leaves, making it clear he doesn't require Bi Lian's services.
When Fu Yunnuo hears that the Consort has installed Bi Lian in Fu Chenjin's mansion, he understands her motives. He even sends his own people to subtly warn Bi Lian not to cause trouble for Qiao Manman. Following this, Fu Yunnuo begins to visit Qiao Manman frequently at Fu Chenjin's mansion for chats. Qiao Manman always greets him warmly and is visibly delighted by the cloud-patterned gifts he brings her. Seeing Qiao Manman's joyful expressions, Fu Chenjin is overcome with jealousy and pointedly tells Fu Yunnuo that if he has any business, he should discuss it directly with him in the future.
Back at the school, Ji Mo's students, smitten by his intellect, constantly try to get closer to him. Aliya, noticing this, refuses to back down. She privately confronts them and engages in contests of skill, and as a result, the students become obedient and finally give up on pursuing their teacher.
In a significant turn, Qiao Manman happens to witness Aliya treating a patient. Aliya is tending to someone with a dislocated joint; she skillfully distracts the patient and then, with a swift, forceful maneuver, resets the bone. The patient is then seen walking away with a new lightness and agility. Inspired, Qiao Manman decides she must learn this skill. Upon returning to the mansion, she attempts the technique on Fu Chenjin, but her efforts backfire – not only does she fail to help him, but she also causes him to fall to the ground.
However, Qiao Manman is not one to give up easily. Knowing Aliya is a master physician, she immediately goes to Ji Mo and Aliya's home to learn. Aliya is overjoyed when Qiao Manman addresses her as "Saozi" (an affectionate term for an older brother's wife or sister-in-law) and proceeds to impart her lifetime of medical knowledge to Qiao Manman, the two of them studying through the entire night.
Fu Chenjin, meanwhile, is frantically searching for Qiao Manman. He questions her maid, Chun Tao, but Chun Tao has no idea where the Princess Consort has gone, only that she didn't return home all night. Enraged, Fu Chenjin orders his maidservants to confine Qiao Manman without food or water as soon as she returns. But then, an attendant rushes in to report that Qiao Manman had gone to Aliya to learn how to treat his leg injury. Fu Chenjin is suddenly overwhelmed by a torrent of emotions – deeply touched that she would spend an entire night studying for his sake. His anger vanishes, and he immediately instructs the kitchen to prepare several extra dishes for Qiao Manman.
Aliya, realizing it would be a shame not to utilize her medical talents, decides to open a practice at Wanshifang. Within just two days, long lines of patients are forming outside her door. Qiao Manman's father steps in to help, collecting consultation fees and preparing herbal medicines, so busy counting money that his hands ache by the end of each day.
Having learned some traditional Chinese medical techniques – the art of Qihuang – from Aliya, Qiao Manman rushes back to the Prince's Mansion and immediately begins to experiment on Fu Chenjin. She subjects him to a barrage of acupuncture and medicinal soups, putting him through quite an ordeal. Despite the discomfort, Fu Chenjin is profoundly grateful as he watches Qiao Manman bustling about, tirelessly working for his well-being. He reflects that, apart from his own mother, no one has ever shown such deep concern for him or been willing to expend so much thought and effort on his behalf.
