An Awkwardly Romantic Night
The episode kicks off with Mei Chengyi and Xu Kaixin taking their relationship to the next level with a date in a romantic hotel suite. But just as things start heating up, their passion is doused when Chengyi suddenly throws out his back, crying out in agony. Kaixin rushes him to the hospital for treatment.
Worried that Kaixin might get the wrong idea about his "performance," Chengyi quickly clarifies that his injury isn't what she thinks and pleads with her not to revoke his status as her business partner over the incident. After a doctor advises them to take it easy, a weary Kaixin takes Chengyi back to his apartment. The two are so exhausted they fall asleep together in his bed, though nothing further happens. For Chengyi, however, the night solidifies his feelings; he is now fully committed and plans to propose once their families have formally met.
A Secretive Return and a Furious Sister
Having stayed out all night with her phone off, Kaixin finally returns home to a furious Sister Lili. Worried sick, Lili doesn't hold back, scolding Kaixin in front of the children. Kaixin tries to explain she was at the hospital and pulls out the registration slip as proof, but in her haste, the hotel room key card tumbles out as well. Xiaojiao’s Mysterious Confidant
Meanwhile, Hu Xiaojiao is at her wits' end with her husband, Qian Hao. In her moment of despair, she receives a friend request from a stranger online. In a lighter subplot, Youyou decides to finally get a job. With no experience, she struggles to find anything on job sites but is motivated by the memory of her parents' excited faces when she told them her plan. She eventually lands an interview for a position that requires no experience.
The interview is at the Yongshou Memorial Park. Her day gets off to a strange start when she accidentally lets a Shiba Inu run loose. Unfazed, she ends up falling asleep on a sofa in the office. The manager returns to find her sound asleep and can't wake her. When she finally stirs, she finds him playing a video game and immediately notes how bad he is. The two strike up an unexpectedly easy and comical rapport, hinting at a potential new chapter for her.
