Full Recap

The episode opens on a lighter, if stranger, note with Youyou, who is struggling with such severe insomnia that she's taken to sleeping at her job. She confesses to her boss, Hu Pei, that the only place she can get a peaceful, dreamless sleep is in a cemetery. Baffled but sympathetic, Hu Pei grants her a 30-minute nap and promises to arrange for her to stay in the staff dormitory.

Meanwhile, Mei Chengyi is having a much worse day. Arriving at the office early, he overhears a hushed, guilty conversation and learns the devastating truth: his superior, President Li, is planning to lay off his entire team right after his birthday. To add insult to injury, the company also plans to withhold their hard-earned project bonuses. President Li feebly defends the decision as being "for the good of the company," but it's clear he's just a mouthpiece for upper management. Heartbroken and disillusioned, Chengyi walks away.

The main event is the ten-year university reunion. Kaixin, driving her new car, arrives with her friend Li Xiaoxiao, only to immediately run into Qian Hao and a very pregnant Hu Xiaojiao. Inside, the tension is palpable. The class monitor hangs old photos, sparking a wave of nostalgia. Li Xiaoxiao's old flame, Song Ran, tries to get close to her under the guise of hugging the monitor, but she coldly shuts him down. Their former teacher, Teacher Sun, unaware of the scandalous details of Qian Hao's affair, tries to play peacemaker by seating him at the same table as Kaixin. Unfazed, Kaixin graciously invites him to sit, causing Hu Xiaojiao’s smile to freeze on her face.

The reunion quickly becomes a battleground of subtle power plays. Teacher Sun pulls Kaixin into a hug, whispering that she knows about the injustice Kaixin suffered and that she arranged the seating to give Kaixin a chance to stand her ground. Later, in a bizarre private meeting, Hu Xiaojiao tells Kaixin that she knows Qian Hao doesn't love her and offers to "give him back." Kaixin scoffs at the proposition, pulls out her phone to show a photo of herself with Mei Chengyi, and delivers a killer line: "This isn't a recycling station."

While Kaixin is fighting her battles, a dejected Mei Chengyi tries to blow off steam by playing basketball, but his mind is elsewhere, and a flare-up of back pain causes him to miss every shot. He confronts President Li about the bonuses, but Li's evasive non-answers extinguish his last glimmer of hope.

The episode's conflicts literally collide on the road home. Qian Hao and Hu Xiaojiao are engaged in a furious argument in their car, with Xiaojiao screaming that he doesn't care about her or their unborn child. He slams on the brakes, and Kaixin, who was driving behind them, rear-ends their vehicle.

In the chaotic aftermath, Kaixin remains calm, simply taking a photo of the accident and posting it online. Mei Chengyi sees it and calls instantly. While Qian Hao abandons his distraught, pregnant wife to rush over and check on Kaixin, a furious Xiaojiao hails a taxi and leaves the scene. Just then, Mei Chengyi arrives like a knight in shining armor. He immediately checks if Kaixin is hurt, professionally handles the accident details, and shields her from any further conflict with Qian Hao. Watching from the sidelines, an impressed Li Xiaoxiao can't stop snapping photos of Chengyi in action, marveling at his competence and protective nature.
