Full Recap
Kaixin Breaks Free
The episode picks up with Xu Kaixin making decisive moves to protect her children and her sanity. After taking Xiaomi for a doctor's visit, she informs Qian Hao of her plans: the children will be living with her. Qian Hao's response is a sudden, hard-line demand that Xiaomi must stay with him. Kaixin doesn't even bother to argue; she simply ignores him, takes her two kids, and checks out of the hotel.
Later that night, she confides in her friend Li Xiaoxiao, revealing she has given up her claim to half of their shared property. "Qian Hao is stuck in the mud, and he wants to drag everyone down with him," she explains. "All I want is to live a quiet life with my kids." Her resolve is clear: freedom is worth more than a house. The conversation ends on a lighter note, with Li Xiaoxiao joking that if her partner, Song Ran, ever actually signs over his RV to her, she'll buy a ring and propose on the spot.
Qian Hao, discovering Kaixin and the kids have already left the hotel, calls her in a rage to demand an explanation. Kaixin's reply is ice-cold. "I never agreed to have Xiaomi watch over a hospital bed day and night," she says, before hanging up on him. She's done playing his games.
Mei Chengyi's Two-Front War
Mei Chengyi is also feeling the pressure from all sides. He secretly helps Xu Kaixin find a new place to live, worried that Qian Hao will continue to harass her. He even pays the security deposit and agent's fee, though Kaixin insists on covering the rent herself.
This act of kindness backfires when his father-in-law, Youyou's dad, finds out. During a tense family dinner where he was already grilling Youyou about her job, he confronts Chengyi. "I don't care how you two live your lives," he warns his son-in-law, "but don't you dare use Yu An and Yu Le's money to raise someone else's child!" Chengyi is left speechless, frustrated by the unfair accusation. Earlier at that same dinner, Chengyi had to make a hasty exit, faking an urgent call just to escape his father-in-law's intense questioning of Youyou.
His problems don't end at home. When Chengyi returns to work, he's immediately summoned by his boss, President Li. With a grim face, Li informs him that his entire team is being laid off and that his project bonus and personal commissions are canceled, all under the flimsy excuse of a "bad attitude." Having been pushed too far, Chengyi drops the compliant act. He looks his boss dead in the eye and fires back, "You're using a minor mistake to conduct a purge? Fine. This time, we play by my rules." The battle lines at work have been officially drawn.
A Legacy of Unhappiness
Meanwhile, the toxic legacy of the Qian family's relationships continues to cast a long shadow. Seeing his son, Qian Hao, deliberately avoiding Hu Xiaojiao, Qian Hao's father offers some bleak advice rooted in his own experience. He tells his son to end the mutually destructive marriage, warning him, "Otherwise, you'll end up just like me and Qin Sulan, making each other miserable for the rest of our lives."
Despite his father's words, Qian Hao fiercely rejects the idea of divorce, retorting that if a divorce happens, "it will be Qin Sulan who initiates it." Before leaving the hospital, he walks quietly to Hu Xiaojiao's room and stands outside the door for a moment, unseen. Inside, Hu Xiaojiao, who was only pretending to be asleep, is unaware of his brief, hesitant visit.
An Unwelcome Arrival
New trouble is already on its way. Xia Chungeng receives a screenshot from his sister, Xia Chunyan: a flight itinerary from JFK to Jiangcheng. He shares the news with Ma Xiaomei with a look of pure dread, convinced his sister's return can only mean one thing: chaos. Ma Xiaomei, however, doesn't seem to share his concern.
As the episode closes, two women are left waiting. In her hospital bed, Qin Sulan has survived the immediate crisis but remains in a coma, her future uncertain. In another room, Hu Xiaojiao, who had been waiting for Qian Hao, is startled to see her mother, Xia Chunyan, walk through the door. The storm has arrived.
