Double Happiness Episode 9 Recap & Spoilers: A Shocking Pregnancy and A Villain's True Colors

This episode of "Double Happiness" throws several relationships into turmoil, revealing shocking secrets and malicious plots that change the game for everyone involved. While a new romance hits an unexpected snag, a toxic marriage implodes with a stunning revelation and a dark threat.

A Relationship Tested

For Xu Kaixin, her budding relationship with Mei Chengyi feels like a natural progression, far from the whirlwind of a teenage romance. However, the evidence of their growing intimacy—a lipstick mark left on Chengyi's face—doesn't go unnoticed. When Chengyi arrives at his former in-laws' house to pick up his daughters, his youngest, Youyou, sees the mark and her expression sours. The situation worsens when Chengyi, trying to lift both his daughters, throws out his back.

Later, after making noodles for the girls at home, he's reminded of the lipstick stain and quickly washes it off. But the damage is done. Youyou’s parents notice her unusual behavior and decide to talk with her. The next day, when Chengyi’s back is too painful to take the kids to kindergarten, he calls Youyou for help. She confronts him, her voice cold. She feels betrayed, reminding him that he was only supposed to be acting like he was interested in Kaixin. Instead, he’s been genuinely falling for another woman while putting on a show of being the deeply devoted widower.

Meanwhile, Kaixin spends her night baking a cake, waiting for a message from Chengyi that never comes. Unaware of his injury or his drama with Youyou, she holds her ground, deciding not to text him first.

A Deceptive Pregnancy

The drama between Hu Xiaojiao and Qian Hao escalates dramatically. When Qian Hao comes to pick her up from her uncle's house, Xiaojiao confronts him about a drunken phone call he doesn't remember making. He denies it until she shows him the call log on her phone.

The argument follows them home, where they are greeted by a bizarre scene. Qian Hao’s mother, Qin Sulan, has brought a statue of "Guan Gong" into the house and covered the master bedroom walls with yellow talismans. The shock and anger are too much for Xiaojiao, and she faints. When Qin Sulan feigns fainting in response, a frantic Qian Hao rushes them both to the hospital.

The check-up reveals nothing serious for either of them, but the doctor delivers a bombshell: Hu Xiaojiao is pregnant. Qian Hao is stunned. He knows for a fact that he can't be the father, as he has been dealing with erectile dysfunction and hasn't been intimate with her. He instantly understands the truth, and his entire demeanor changes.

When Xiaojiao wakes up in the hospital to Qin Sulan’s beaming face, she’s terrified. Unaware of the real situation, the mother-in-law is overjoyed at the prospect of a grandchild. Xiaojiao, wracked with guilt, can only repeat her demand for a divorce. But Qian Hao, whose eyes now hold a chilling, murderous intent, has other plans.

A Sinister Threat and a Vicious Plot

The next day, as Xiaojiao packs her bags to leave, Qian Hao drags her back into the bedroom. He threatens her, demanding she carry the baby to term. His motive is as twisted as it is tragic: he wants to give his mother, who he reveals has only two years left to live, the happiness of seeing a grandchild before she dies. After that, he tells Xiaojiao, she can go wherever she wants.

The man who grabs her by the neck is a stranger to Xiaojiao—a far cry from the husband she knew. Terrified that he might actually harm her, she pretends to agree. But Qian Hao knows her too well and warns her not to try and fool him or use her uncle, Xia Chungeng, for leverage. If she does, he threatens, it will be mutually assured destruction, and her uncle will suffer the consequences.

Meanwhile, Xu Kaixin and her business partner, Li Xiaoxiao, learn that the person who backed out of buying the commercial property they wanted was none other than Qian Hao. His motive was simple and cruel: to sabotage Kaixin’s new business, ensuring she wouldn't have the financial means to support their two children.

Faced with the true extent of Qian Hao's malice, Kaixin's resolve hardens. The time for being soft is over. She decides to sue him and fight for a new division of their marital assets.
