The pressure of work is clearly getting to Liu Jun. His short temper is becoming obvious, not just to his fiancée, Cui Bingbing, but also to her father. Following their advice to relax, Liu Jun organizes a company retreat to Miaoling Reservoir. The destination is significant—it's not only where his own mother was sent to the countryside but also the hometown of Fu Qiufang.

During the trip, Liu Jun has a chance encounter with one of Fu Qiufang's former students and learns that she was once a beloved teacher. This new perspective makes him question his harsh judgment of her, and he begins to see her as a tragic figure who may have been pushed into her actions by circumstances beyond her control.

While his employees are enjoying the outing, the cracks in other relationships become apparent. Cui Bingbing tries to connect with her friend Shen Jiali, only to find they've drifted apart. Shen Jiali has abandoned her passion for photography and is now absorbed in Buddhist and tea scriptures, leaving them with nothing in common. Meanwhile, Liu Jun brings up the idea of a prenuptial agreement with Qian Hongming, who isn't sure how Bingbing will react.

The trip takes another turn when they learn that Fu Qiufang has returned to the village to live alone, stirring complicated feelings for those who know her story.

Back from the trip, the prenuptial agreement becomes a reality when Liu Jun receives the draft from his lawyer. At the same time, his company, Tengfei, gets a boost as Luo Qing, encouraged by his wife, decides to quit his government job and join the team. Liu Jun is thrilled and shares the good news with his father, Liu Shitang, who is embracing his own retirement by learning to trade stocks.

The situation explodes when Chen Qifan borrows a computer from Cui Bingbing's home. Bingbing stumbles upon the prenuptial agreement file and is furious. She confronts Liu Jun, feeling that the document is a profound betrayal of trust. The argument is brutal, and Liu Jun storms out. When he returns, Bingbing is gone, having left only a note.

Now in a cold war, Liu Jun's father advises him not to give in on the prenup. He returns to his factory and, despite the high risks pointed out by Luo Qing and other senior staff, declares that Tengfei will aim to develop the entire set of automated equipment for the project themselves.

While Liu Jun is drinking with Lu Huadong, trying to pitch the new project and secure an investment, Cui Bingbing is out with her friends. They try to comfort her, but things get worse when she spots Liu Jun's car parked outside the bar—a place her friends note is a notorious spot for hookups, leaving her to assume the worst.
