The Recap

An Unwanted Admirer

The episode picks up with Qiao Qingyu trying to disentangle herself from Brother Hei, a local thug. Realizing he didn't know her sister, Bei Yu, back in Nanjiao Village, Qingyu loses all interest in him and is solely focused on finding the real perpetrator. But as she tries to leave, Brother Hei aggressively grabs her, refusing to let go. In a moment of quick thinking, her classmate Mumu spots the confrontation and helps Qingyu escape through a back door. The two sprint away, shaking off Brother Hei and cementing a new friendship born from crisis.

Brother Hei’s obsession, however, is just beginning. He tracks down the family restaurant and waits all afternoon for Qingyu, who luckily stays home to study. He hands Qingyu's mother a 100-yuan bill, falsely claiming to be Bei Yu's ex-boyfriend and asking where Qingyu is. Immediately wary of his demeanor, Qingyu's mother takes action. She calls for help from her hometown and, to protect her daughter, forbids Qingyu from working at the restaurant.

A Silent Protector and a Painful Past

The harassment escalates as Brother Hei sends a bouquet of flowers to Qingyu at school, setting the rumor mill buzzing. Disgusted, Qingyu throws them straight into the trash. On her way home, she walks quickly, constantly looking over her shoulder for Brother Hei. Ming Sheng, her classmate, notices her distress. Having heard whispers that she’s tangled with a local gangster, he begins walking with her, silently escorting her all the way to her doorstep before leaving. Qingyu is quietly grateful for his unspoken support.

Later that night, Qingyu presses her younger brother for details about their older sister, Bei Yu. She asks why Bei Yu fled Nanjiao Village for Shunyun, only to be forced to return. Her brother reveals a heartbreaking truth: Bei Yu had wanted to stay in Shunyun with her parents and give up high school. However, their parents insisted that a diploma was essential for her future, forcing her to go back to the village after just two days.

Confrontation and a Family Shattered

Armed with this new information, Qingyu heads to the restaurant to confront her mother about Bei Yu. But when she arrives, she finds Brother Hei and his cronies already there, causing trouble. Brother Hei taunts her, slowly eating a bowl of noodles to intimidate her and the staff. Fed up, Qingyu grabs a glass of water and throws it in his face. The situation explodes. Brother Hei smashes his bowl on the ground, but the commotion draws the police, forcing him and his gang to flee.

Meanwhile, Ming Sheng is dealing with his own family crisis. Encouraged by his neighbor Mumu, he buys a cake and goes to the hospital to celebrate his father's birthday, hoping to mend their strained relationship. His father, Ming Qiuxin, is a doctor and is pulled into surgery. While waiting, Ming Sheng flips through a book in his father’s office and discovers an intimate photo of him with a nurse. Devastated by the evidence of his father's affair, Ming Sheng throws the cake in the trash and storms out. When Ming Qiuxin returns, he sees the discarded cake and the photo, realizing his son now knows the secret he had planned to reveal after the college entrance exams.

The Spoiler: A Point of No Return

Unable to get to Qingyu, Brother Hei resorts to a new tactic: he begins loitering at the school gate, spreading rumors that he is her boyfriend. Pushed to her breaking point by the relentless harassment and slander, Qingyu secretly slips a fruit knife into her pocket for protection.

When Brother Hei confronts her again, grabbing at her and refusing to listen to her pleas to be left alone, the tension reaches its peak. With her warnings ignored and her personal space violated, Qingyu makes a chillingly calm decision. She pulls the knife from her pocket and stabs him. The school gate becomes a scene of chaos as a desperate act of self-defense escalates into a violent, life-altering confrontation.
