The episode picks up with Wen Xiaoyao leaving the theater, clearly distressed. Xu Tian quickly follows her to a nearby pub. Inside, Xiaoyao begins drinking heavily, confessing that seeing Xu Tian is a painful reminder of the late Zhou Tong, his exact look-alike. Despite knowing they are different people, she can't control her feelings and finds herself wanting to spend more time with him. She tearfully asks if he would search for her if she ever disappeared, and Xu Tian confirms he would.
Their emotional moment is shattered when Qiao Mi arrives, having tracked Xiaoyao's location. Seeing her with Xu Tian, Qiao Mi loudly urges Xiaoyao to face reality: Zhou Tong is dead, and using a look-alike as a replacement is not the answer. Humiliated and angry, Xiaoyao lashes out at Qiao Mi and storms out of the pub.
Outside in the rain, their dance mentor, Zhao Gang, is waiting. Qiao Mi pleads with Xiaoyao not to throw away her dancing career and to come back to Beijing with her. The two get into a physical argument, which is abruptly halted when a car loses control and crashes nearby. Meanwhile, back in the pub, Xu Tian is stunned to finally learn the truth about Zhou Tong's death. Overwhelmed, he downs the rest of Xiaoyao's drinks and stumbles out into the night.
At the same time, Shi Diandian arrives in Hangzhou. During the taxi ride to Hai'er Lane, she anxiously rehearses how she'll explain herself to Xu Tian. She also practices the speech she plans to give Wen Xiaoyao, intending to ask her to leave Hangzhou so she and Xu Tian can have a fresh start.
Xu Tian, drunk and confused, wanders into Old Shi's convenience store. He confides in Old Shi about his shock and sadness over the death of Zhou Tong, the man who looked identical to him and was his only connection to a world he never understood. Just then, Shi Diandian walks in. The two meet, and she tells him she came back simply because she missed him.
As they walk home, Diandian's anxiety skyrockets when Xu Tian tells her that Xiaoyao not only returned the ring but that they also attended Jia Sulan's play together. Her nervousness makes her clumsy; she forgets her groceries at the store, can't remember the password to the tailor shop, and finally, the bag of food she is carrying breaks, spilling everything onto the ground.
Elsewhere, Wen Xiaoyao and Qiao Mi have calmed down at their rental. Zhao Gang lectures them for their childish behavior, reminding Xiaoyao of the pain of losing her mother and urging her to channel her grief into her art to become a true artist. When Xiaoyao remains unresponsive, he leaves in frustration to find a hotel. Xiaoyao follows, transferring her remaining hotel funds to him. Touched, Zhao Gang makes a final plea, suggesting she could rehearse a different piece, "Jin Se," instead of "The White Snake," because he can't bear to see her rare talent go to waste.
The episode culminates in a tense dinner at Xu Tian's home. Shi Diandian has cooked for him, but a sudden power outage triggers Xu Tian, reminding him of the day Zhou Tong first came to Hangzhou, which also had a blackout. This pushes Diandian to her breaking point. She confesses she rushed back out of fear that Xiaoyao would steal him away. Recalling a friend's words, she admits that while she provides Xu Tian with a sense of security, there is no real love between them. She believes Xu Tian and Xiaoyao are a better match. Convinced she will lose control if she stays, she decides to end things. She places a photo of Xu Tian's mother with Jia Sulan on the table, tells him to be with Xiaoyao, flips the power back on, and walks out, leaving him alone in the lit room.
