The pressure mounts as two relationships are put to the test, culminating in a shocking cliffhanger that changes everything.
Zong Qing’s visit to his girlfriend Lan Yangyang’s family home is anything but smooth. He’s so nervous about meeting her father, a high-ranking chief, that his dinner conversation sounds more like a work report. Lan Yangyang's mother kindly tries to ease his tension throughout the meal. Afterwards, the parents get serious, asking about the couple's future. Zong Qing earnestly promises them that Lan Yangyang will always be his priority. However, when asked to choose between following military orders and Lan Yangyang, he answers without hesitation that he must obey his orders. Her father, Lan Weiguo, is satisfied with this response, but her mother is left feeling disappointed. As a military wife herself, she knows the immense sacrifices required and worries that a life with Zong Qing might not bring her daughter the happiness she deserves.
Meanwhile, another couple, Wu Si and Tang Xin, are guests at Brigade Commander Wang’s home. The dinner is a matchmaking setup, orchestrated by the commander and his wife, Lin Lan, who have just moved in together. Commander Wang even sends a photo of the two enjoying their meal to Tang Xin’s parents, who agree that they look like a perfect match. After dinner, the commander and his wife take the pair out to help Tang Xin interview military families for a story. Through these conversations and her time with Wu Si, Tang Xin’s admiration for him deepens. Seizing the opportunity, Commander Wang arranges for Tang Xin to stay at the military camp to witness a naval parade, giving her and Wu Si more time to spend alone together.
In a brief but significant side plot, Han Yuhang's father returns to the country. His brother reports that Tang Xin's ongoing investigation into stolen underwater cultural artifacts is threatening their illicit business. While they initially want to teach her a lesson, the father reveals he has found a new, more profitable venture and decides to let the matter go.
The parental meetings continue as Zong Qing’s parents arrive to meet Lan Yangyang. This time, it's Lan Yangyang who is a bundle of nerves. Her parents, Lan Weiguo and his wife, decide to give the young people some space and leave them alone with Zong Qing's parents. Overwhelmed and admitting she can't cook, Lan Yangyang calls her friend Tang Xin, who is still at the camp, for help. Watching from a distance, her father Lan Weiguo jokingly deducts a point from her for needing assistance. Tang Xin comes to the rescue, preparing a magnificent feast and giving all the credit to Lan Yangyang. Although Zong Qing's parents can tell she didn't cook, they are deeply impressed by her character and sincerity, even giving her a warm hug before they leave. Lan Yangyang's parents, seeing how well the meeting went, are overjoyed and invite Zong Qing's parents to watch a training exercise.
With both sets of parents giving their blessing, Zong Qing and Lan Yangyang are officially engaged and begin planning their wedding. They rent a beautiful house by the sea to start their new life together, which Lan Yangyang lovingly decorates. Before leaving the military base, Tang Xin leaves a stash of snacks for Wu Si, a small gesture that brings a huge smile to his face.
The episode reaches its climax when Tang Xin joins Zong Qing and Lan Yangyang to try on wedding dresses. Lan Yangyang playfully insists that Tang Xin try one on as well. Just as Tang Xin emerges in the wedding gown, Wu Si unexpectedly arrives with stunning news: the wedding plans are canceled. The announcement leaves everyone in complete shock.
