The episode opens with a grand and solemn group wedding held on a naval warship for several military couples, including Zong Qing and Lan Yangyang. The impressive ceremony is officiated by Lan Yangyang's father, Lan Weiguo. Tang Xin, attending as a reporter to capture the sacred event, becomes the target of Lan Yangyang's bouquet toss, a gesture meant to wish her well in finding love. Captain Wang seizes the moment to playfully push Wu Si and Tang Xin together.

Later, Tang Xin's father watches the wedding footage, moved to tears and hoping his own daughter will one day have such a beautiful moment. That evening, Tang Xin lies in bed, fondly looking through photos of her and Wu Si.

The mood shifts dramatically as a thunderstorm rages. An emergency alert sounds, and the soldiers are rapidly mobilized for a mission. Zong Qing, choosing duty over his new marriage, leaves for flood rescue and relief while Lan Yangyang is still fast asleep.

When Lan Yangyang wakes up, she panics upon finding Zong Qing gone. His phone is off, and no one is around. A worried call to her mother reveals that her father also left in a hurry. Just then, Tang Xin arrives to explain the situation. Zong Qing, concerned for his wife's safety, had asked Tang Xin to take Lan Yangyang to her parents. Learning that Tang Xin is also heading to the disaster area to report, a concerned Lan Yangyang asks to go with her but is refused.

The flood situation is severe, with many people trapped. At home, Lan Yangyang and her mother anxiously watch the news, their hearts aching at the harsh conditions the soldiers face.

Tang Xin's on-site reporting earns praise from her boss, who encourages her to conduct more personal interviews with the soldiers to create a more compelling story for the public. Meanwhile, with communications down, Zong Qing grows anxious, unable to contact his new bride. When a communications vehicle finally arrives, the soldiers are each given one minute to call their loved ones. Zong Qing eagerly tries to call Lan Yangyang to tell her he's safe, but she repeatedly hangs up, likely not recognizing the number. He's left to worry that she is angry with him for leaving on their wedding night without a word. Wu Si offers his one-minute slot, but Zong Qing declines, knowing how precious that time is for everyone.

Wu Si then calls Tang Xin, and their conversation is filled with mutual concern. They meet at a temporary medical station where Tang Xin is helping. When she notices Wu Si has an injured hand, her worry deepens, and she insists on bandaging it for him.
