After ensuring his friend Jiang Qiaoxi is safe in Hong Kong, Yu Qiao returns to school with a new resolve: to confess his feelings to Ying Tao. Exhausted from his travels, he falls asleep on a bench while waiting for her. When she arrives, he gives her his wallet to buy a bottle of water. Inside, Ying Tao is surprised to find a photo of the two of them together.
However, when Yu Qiao finally speaks, it's not a confession of love. He tells her about his trip to find Jiang Qiaoxi and gives her the detailed route to his location. He explains that his studies are about to get more demanding, so they won't be able to eat together anymore, and wishes her a safe journey to Hong Kong. Ying Tao understands his unspoken feelings, but her heart only sees him as a friend. She chases after him to return the wallet, promising that she will definitely buy him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses someday.
Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, Jiang Qiaoxi sits by his paralyzed cousin's hospital bed, deeply moved by Yu Qiao's earlier words. He watches his cousin's wife with admiration as she lovingly cares for her husband, a testament to her unwavering dedication.
Determined, Ying Tao quickly arranges her travel documents. Her senior, Li Jun, chides her for chasing after a boy so eagerly, but Ying Tao is adamant. She knows where he is now, and she fears that if she waits, he might move again and she'll lose him for good. After a heartfelt farewell, with her senior repeatedly warning her to be safe, Ying Tao leaves for Hong Kong.
Her journey leads her to Jiang Qiaoxi's apartment building, but she hits a wall when the doorman, unable to understand her Mandarin, refuses her entry. With no other option, she waits helplessly by the entrance, hoping for Jiang Qiaoxi to appear.
Late that night, the landlord, Yin Ge, finds her asleep on her luggage. He gently wakes her and, realizing she's looking for Jiang Qiaoxi, smiles and says he's seen her before. He leads her to Jiang Qiaoxi's room. When the door opens, Ying Tao is shocked. The small, dark room is covered wall-to-wall with photos of her. The amber necklace hangs quietly by the lamp.
Just then, Jiang Qiaoxi returns. His landlord teases him that his "white moonlight" has arrived. Stunned and flustered, Jiang Qiaoxi retreats, blaming Yin Ge for interfering. Once inside, he treats Ying Tao with a cold indifference. He tells her to stay with Yin Ge for the night and that he'll show her around Hong Kong the next day before sending her home. He claims to have a new life, but Ying Tao, heartbroken by his haggard appearance, points to the photos and confronts him, asking why he insists on trapping himself in the past.
