Double Fugue Episode 19: Spoilers

The episode opens with a heart-pounding rescue. Lu Li, frantic with worry, finally spots Qin Yuebai through a window in a warehouse where she's being held captive. Overcome with relief and emotion, he quickly grabs a ladder, climbs inside, and embraces her tightly, offering comfort in the terrifying situation.

Their captor, Tang Bei, is not finished with them. Determined to eliminate them both, he starts a tractor and begins driving it toward the warehouse, intending to demolish it with them inside. Trapped and with no escape, Lu Li shields Qin Yuebai's eyes, preparing for the worst. Just as the tractor is about to crash into the building, Bao Yan, Tang Bei's lover, throws herself in its path. Faced with the choice of harming his lover, Tang Bei stops the machine. Qin Yuebai and Lu Li are finally safe.

Meanwhile, the mastermind Su Shilun is busy tying up loose ends. His assistant reports that they have gathered enough evidence of fraud, asset stripping, and other economic crimes to ensure Wang Yayin faces a long prison sentence. A satisfied Su Shilun instructs his assistant to find a lawyer who can make sure she is locked away permanently. His anger isn't reserved for Wang Yayin alone. He is also furious with Qin Yuebai, his illegitimate daughter. He had only acknowledged her existence to get his hands on a valuable painting by her mother, but she tricked him with a fake. In a fit of rage, he smashes his wine glass.

Later, Qin Yuebai and Lu Li examine the painting more closely. Using a UV light, they discover three numbers hidden on the canvas, forming a date. Qin Yuebai racks her brain and remembers a precious notebook left by her mother. She finds the corresponding date in the diary, where her mother, using a special type of ink, had chronicled Su Shilun's many sins. The entry describes him as a venomous snake hiding in the shadows who had deceived her for years. It also reveals that he systematically ruined his business rivals, including Lu Li's parents.

Qin Yuebai finds Su Baoyan (Bao Yan) distraught over Tang Bei's betrayal and encourages her to be strong. She then reveals the shocking truth about their father, Su Shilun. She explains how he orchestrated their stepmother Wang Yayin's downfall, setting her up to take the fall for a failing company he deliberately handed over to her. Qin Yuebai adds that Wang Yayin was not his only victim; Lu Li's parents and her own mother also suffered at his hands. The revelations completely shatter Bao Yan, who never knew the extent of her father's depravity.

Realizing that Lu Li now has proof of what he did to his parents, Su Shilun takes drastic action. He has Lu Li kidnapped and, in a display of pure evil, burns the evidence right in front of him. He sadistically taunts Lu Li, stepping on his head and asking if he's afraid of fire, just as his parents were when they cried out for help while trapped in a blaze. This cruel act serves as a final confirmation of Su Shilun's guilt.

Consumed by a desire for revenge, Lu Li seeks out a businessman named Sun Yiming. Lu Li offers his entire life savings as a bargaining chip, asking for Sun Yiming's help to bring Su Shilun down. As a man driven by profit, Sun Yiming sees the lucrative potential and agrees to the deal, turning on his former associate. Unaware of this new alliance, Su Shilun continues to trust Sun Yiming, even announcing a new joint development project with him to the media.
