Mei Zhuyu's suspicion of Wu Zhen grows, leading him to set a trap that she secretly foils. While the other Celestial Masters are ambushed and forced into hiding, Wu Zhen confronts the Wordless Book about a plan that would separate her from Mei Zhuyu for a century. After witnessing Mei Zhuyu's gentle nature with a child, Wu Zhen has a change of heart and considers giving up her demonic ambitions for a future with him, enraging the Wordless Book.

Mei Zhuyu Sets a Trap
Mei Zhuyu is finally getting suspicious. He's been thinking about what Shuang Jiang said. Now he's connecting the dots. Every time demons cause trouble, Wu Zhen just happens to be there. He used to think it was fate. Now, it just seems way too convenient.
He decides to test his theory. He tells Wu Zhen to come pick him up from the Xuanjian Division the next day. She agrees without a second thought.
The next evening, he sends everyone else home and waits for her. He stands in the middle of a demon-revealing formation. As Wu Zhen walks toward him, he suddenly panics. He yells at her to stop just before she steps into the trap. Right as they turn to leave, a part of the formation collapses. Wu Zhen yanks him out of the way of a falling stone. He's touched that she saved his life. He has no idea she sabotaged the trap's mechanism before she even walked in.
The Celestial Masters Get Ambushed
While Mei Zhuyu plays games, Zhangming and the other Celestial Masters are in real trouble. They try to force their way into the Demon Market. It's a disaster. They get ambushed with a strange poison smoke. The smoke is not just deadly. It also leaves a special scent on them. This scent makes them easy for any demon to track.
Mei Zhuyu knew the mission wouldn't be simple. He had already planned for the worst. He arranged for Shuang Jiang to have a carriage ready. He also found a secret house for everyone to hide out and recover in.
A Demon's Dilemma
The Hundred-Year Plan
Wu Zhen can't find the Celestial Masters anywhere, so she heads back to the Demon Market. There, she learns about the Wordless Book's big plan. He wants to turn her into a full demon. The catch is, it requires her to get a new body and then go into seclusion for a hundred years.
She immediately confronts him. She's convinced this is just his way of breaking her and Mei Zhuyu up for good. The Wordless Book doesn't deny it.He tells her the human body she's using is starting to decay anyway. He insists they've been working toward this goal for eighteen years. He asks her why she would throw it all away for a human.He's blunt. A relationship between a human and a demon is doomed.
After she leaves, Elder Hui shows up. He questions the Wordless Book's real motives. The Wordless Book just says everything he does is for the future of the Demon Market.
A Bittersweet Romance
Wu Zhen returns home to find Mei Zhuyu grilling meat for her. The simple, domestic scene hits her hard. She knows their time together is short, and she can't hide her sadness. Mei Zhuyu looks up and seems to notice something is wrong.
For the next few days, they are inseparable. To everyone else, they look like a happy couple in love. Only Wu Zhen knows the clock is ticking.
Whispers and Warnings
The injured Celestial Masters are miserable in their hideout. Shuang Jiang brings them food every day. But some of them aren't grateful. They start whispering that Mei Zhuyu must be working with the demons. They blame him for the failed mission. Shuang Jiang hears this and explodes, furiously defending Mei Zhuyu before storming out.
Elsewhere, Mei Si sits alone in his room. He's just staring at Liu Taizhen's portrait. Huang Yi stops by to praise him for rejecting an arranged marriage. He even brings a stack of portraits of other women for Mei Si to choose from. Mei Si doesn't even look at them. He only wants Liu Taizhen.
The Family Banquet
Wu Zhen's aunt comes to the capital for a visit, so the Duke's Mansion throws a big party. At the banquet, Liu Taizhen pulls Wu Zhen aside. She gives her a serious warning. Ling Xiao is actively hunting for the Celestial Masters. Liu Taizhen also tells her that her relationship with Mei Zhuyu is the talk of the city. She needs to be more careful.
Just then, Wu Zhen rubs her lower back. Mei Si sees it and loudly asks if she needs a doctor. The question makes both her and Mei Zhuyu extremely uncomfortable.
A Change of Heart
Later during the party, a young cousin runs into Mei Zhuyu's private rooms and starts a tantrum. Mei Zhuyu calmly handles it. He simply draws a talisman, and the child immediately quiets down and starts practicing his writing.
Wu Zhen watches the whole scene unfold. Seeing Mei Zhuyu's gentle, paternal side makes something shift inside her. She starts to think about giving up her demonic transformation. She imagines having children with him.
But this change of heart doesn't go unnoticed. The Wordless Book learns of her new desire. He is filled with a burning hatred for Mei Zhuyu.
