Episode Summary
The episode introduces the powerful but deeply fractured Wang family. Patriarch Wang Jin Tao prepares to marry his star surgeon, Dong Yi Yan, who immediately begins making power plays with the resentful children.

The Queen of Castle: Episode 1 Recap
It kicks off with some intense medical action. You've got this huge medical forum happening in Hong Kong. The man in charge is Wang Jin Tao. He runs the massive Minglang Group.
He's on stage, looking super confident. He talks about a groundbreaking fetal heart surgery. The procedure is for babies with severe right ventricle disease. Without it, the fetus could die within 20 hours inside the mother. He then introduces the star surgeon, Dong Yi Yan. She's the one leading this whole operation.
We see Dong Yi Yan getting ready for the surgery. The parents are a nervous wreck. Reporters are already swarming the hospital. It's a big deal.
Meet the Dysfunctional Wang Family
Now, let's get to the family drama. It's the best part. The whole family is a mess, and I am here for it.
The Sons and Their Problems
We meet Wang Qi Zhi in Prague. He’s one of Wang Jin Tao's sons. We learn he has a sketchy past. He once took the wrong medicine and hit someone with his car. Now, everyone around him gets nervous when he drives. His wife, Chen Li Xue, is especially worried.
His brother is Wang Qi Cong. This guy clearly has no respect for his older brother, Qi Zhi. Chen Li Xue thinks Qi Cong is a schemer. She believes he pushed her husband out of the family business. But she's also frustrated with her husband. He just takes it and does nothing, which she sees as weak.
The Daughters Stirring Trouble
Then you have Wen Yi Jia. She's the family's second daughter and a lawyer. And she's furious with the family business, Minglang Group. She's actually planning to sue the hospital. She says she will fight for what's right.
Another daughter, Wang Qi Cheng, tries to get her dad to help her out. She wants him to get her and her boyfriend, Peng Jian Bang, into a company meeting. Her father, Wang Jin Tao, is not having it. He's still angry with her. She apparently damaged the company's reputation just to get rid of a rival. He calls her stupid for working with an enemy against her own family.
Later, Dong Yi Yan finds Wang Jin Tao. He offers her a 3% stake in the company. She's a little shocked. But she tells him she wants to earn it herself.
A Wedding Crasher and a Power Play
The family gathers for a party. It turns out to be a wedding. Dong Yi Yan walks down the aisle in a wedding dress, heading for the patriarch, Wang Jin Tao. Yes, the top surgeon is marrying the boss.
The wedding gets wild. Another daughter, Wang Qi Xin, shows up. She crashes the party and warns her dad to call it off. She brings up a death he's responsible for. Then she throws a glass of wine on him and walks out. Everyone is just stunned. Wang Jin Tao, however, doesn't even seem that angry.
Later, we get some backstory from Wang Qi Zhi. He admits to his wife that he hurt his older brother to try and take his position. He says he didn't mean it, but she can't forgive him. Chen Li Xue feels guilty, too. She had a miscarriage years ago and can't have children. She thinks her husband's low status in the family is because he has no heir.
This is where it gets interesting. Dong Yi Yan makes a deal with Wang Qi Zhi. She promises to make him CEO. All he has to do is give her his shares. She's already using them to buy up stock, and Wang Jin Tao is impressed by how smart she is.
The Morning After
The next morning, the family has a very tense breakfast together. Everyone is pretending to be nice, but you can feel the tension. Wang Qi Zhi acts friendly and then leaves for a flight.
Dong Yi Yan, the new stepmom, tries to play nice. She brings gifts for the daughters-in-law. They are not impressed. They look miserable.
The episode ends with Wang Qi Xin. She's having nightmares. We learn her father, Wang Jin Tao, drove her boyfriend to his death. She can't forget how cruel her father was. Between his actions and her boyfriend's death, she can't imagine ever making peace with him.
