Episode Summary
Hai Chun receives a grim diagnosis, forcing Wen Yi Jia to offer her shares to Dong Yi Yan for a cure. Dong Yi Yan demands shares from Dai De Qiao as well, pushing him into an alliance with a confident Fang Xin. The arrival of Zhang Zhiming is revealed to be a double-edged sword; he is Dong Yi Yan's long-lost son, but he also becomes the key to Fang Xin's trap. Just as Dong Yi Yan prepares for the board vote, Fang Xin exposes Zhang Zhiming's past malpractice and claims Dong Yi Yan knew, leaving her career and revenge plot in jeopardy.

A Brutal Diagnosis
Hai Chun is awake. The good news ends there. Dong Yi Yan is brutally honest with her. The condition can only be managed with medication to stop blood clots. It can't be cured. She also has signs of right ventricular failure. Hai Chun is, understandably, a wreck. Dong Yi Yan tries to give her a pep talk about being brave, but it's a tough pill to swallow.
The Price of a Life
Wen Yi Jia is desperate to save her daughter, Hai Chun. She believes Dong Yi Yan is the best surgeon in Shanghai for the job. So she makes an offer. She'll give Dong Yi Yan her company shares if she saves Hai Chun's life. At first, Wen Yi Jia's father thinks Dong Yi Yan is trustworthy.
But then Dong Yi Yan makes her real demand. She wants the shares from both Wen Yi Jia and Dai De Qiao. This immediately sours the deal for Wen Yi Jia's father. He now thinks Dong Yi Yan is just another greedy opportunist.
Alliances Get Messy
To help Wen Yi Jia, Dai De Qiao joins Fang Xin's team. This is a bad move. His bosses at Pacific Bank give him a direct warning. He needs to get out of the Wang family's drama, or the bank will pull all of its funding.
Fang Xin, on the other hand, is loving this. She's completely confident that she has the board seat locked up. She's so smug that she ignores a call from Wang Qi Cheng.
A New Doctor and a Big Secret
A new doctor, Zhang Zhiming, makes a great first impression on Dong Yi Yan. He uses sign language to communicate with a patient's family. She sees him as the ideal doctor and wants to keep him at the hospital.
Then comes the first bombshell. Zhang Zhiming is her son. Dong Yi Yan is floored, but you can tell she's also happy. The reunion is cut short by hospital drama. Zhang Zhiming argues with an older doctor over performing an MRI. Dong Yi Yan steps in, agrees the MRI is necessary, and then scolds them both for fighting in front of a patient.
The Mother and Son Reunion
Later, Zhang Zhiming confronts Dong Yi Yan directly. He tells her that his adoptive parents told him his birth mother's last name was Dong. He fought to get a job at Ming Lang hospital just to find her. He then asks her how her life has been.
This is where Dong Yi Yan finally reveals her true mission.
Dong Yi Yan's Real Mission
She tells her son everything. Years ago, her own father had the same liver transplant surgery. But someone sabotaged it, and he was framed and died. She didn't come back to be a star surgeon. She came back to get revenge for her father.
The Boardroom Battle Heats Up
Xing Fang pulls Dong Yi Yan aside with a warning. The opposition is trying to buy patient data from the hospital. She also points out that trading shares for a surgery is illegal. Still, Xing Fang says her vote will go to the person with the lowest risk, hinting that she's on Dong Yi Yan's side.
Things get more complicated when Dong Yi Yan has to postpone a VIP's surgery to handle a more critical emergency. Xing Fang thinks she's lost her mind for snubbing a VIP. In the middle of all this, Peng Jian Bang gets chased into the hospital by loan sharks, much to his wife Wang Qi Cheng's disgust.
The Trap Springs Shut
Dong Yi Yan feels ready for the board vote. She knows the other shareholders are being threatened, but she has a plan in place. Wen Yi Jia promises her vote, even though she couldn't get Dai De Qiao on board. Fang Xin walks in, thinking victory is hers.
Just as a major surgery is about to begin, Fang Xin bursts in and stops everything. She publicly accuses the hospital of illegal conduct. She then drops the final bomb. Zhang Zhiming has a history of malpractice.
Zhang Zhiming confirms it. Then he twists the knife, stating that Dong Yi Yan knew about it the entire time. Dong Yi Yan is stunned. The board members are in shock. The trap was for her all along.
