Episode Summary
Yu Nian and Shen Cheng learn the tragic history of Tang Yixun and his friends from Zhang Hao. A flashback reveals that a gangster named Bao Ge forced Li Chadong into a "final job" which was actually a trap to frame them for kidnapping. Bao Ge attempts to kill Tang Yixun in a fire, but Ye Haitang rescues him. The police arrive, but not before Li Chadong and Zhang Hao accidentally kill Bao Ge in a fight, leading to their imprisonment.

The Past Comes Knocking
A Friend's Story
The episode kicks off with Yu Nian and Shen Cheng finding Zhang Hao, Tang Yixun's old friend. They need answers about the past. Zhang Hao is adamant. He says Tang Yixun would never kill anyone.
He then tells them the whole story. The trouble started with a local gangster named Bao Ge and his lackey, A Qiang. The friend group wanted out of the thug life. They just wanted to live normally. But Bao Ge's crew wouldn't let them go. A Qiang kept harassing them and their families.
This pushed Tang Yixun and Zhang Hao to their breaking point. They were ready to go after Bao Ge. But their other friend, Li Chadong, showed up and stopped them.
The Deal with Bao Ge
The flashback gets deeper. We see that A Qiang was also making Li Chadong's life a nightmare. Li Chadong's girlfriend, Tan Xin, saw them together constantly. She thought he was back in the gang. She was so disappointed that she refused to even listen to his side of the story. Li Chadong tried to get her to leave town with him for her own safety, but she wouldn't go.
Desperate, Li Chadong goes directly to Bao Ge. He gets on his knees and begs the gangster to leave him and his friends alone. Bao Ge offers him a deal. He has one last job for Li Chadong. If he completes it, Bao Ge promises to disappear from their lives for good. Li Chadong agrees. As he leaves, A Qiang asks to borrow his lighter. Li Chadong tosses it over, and A Qiang suspiciously puts it in a plastic bag.
The "One Last Job"
A Bad Feeling
Li Chadong tells Tang Yixun and Zhang Hao about the deal. They're nervous, but the idea of finally being free is too tempting. They agree to do the job.
The job feels dangerous, though. All three of them visit the people they care about most. It's like they're saying their goodbyes, just in case they don't come back. While this is happening, Ye Haitang can't find Tang Yixun. She talks with Zhenzhu and realizes he must be in serious trouble. She immediately runs off to find him.
The Betrayal
Tang Yixun and Zhang Hao are waiting for the job to start. They get a bad feeling. Tang Yixun decides to pry open the crate they're supposed to be transporting. It’s not goods inside. It’s a person. And it's their schoolmate, Shen Xiaojun.
The whole thing was a setup. Bao Ge and his men show up right at that moment. They knock out the three friends and tie them up. Bao Ge then forces Li Chadong to make an impossible choice. He can take Zhang Hao and walk away free. Or he can stay and watch Bao Ge burn Tang Yixun and Shen Xiaojun alive.
The Truth Comes Out
A Desperate Escape
Li Chadong is forced to leave with Zhang Hao. Bao Ge sets the warehouse on fire. But Tang Yixun had a razor blade hidden in his mouth. Shen Xiaojun is so panicked that when he tries to use it, he fumbles and drops the blade out of reach.
Just as the fire closes in, Ye Haitang bursts in and cuts Tang Yixun free. But the nightmare isn't over. Outside, Bao Ge's men beat Li Chadong and Zhang Hao senseless. As Bao Ge is about to leave, Tang Yixun and the others run out of the burning building. The chase starts all over again.
The Aftermath
Suddenly, police sirens wail. The cops arrive and save Tang Yixun, Ye Haitang, and Shen Xiaojun. But in the chaos of the fight, Li Chadong and Zhang Hao accidentally killed Bao Ge. For that, they both went to prison.
The episode cuts back to the present. Zhang Hao has finished telling his story to Yu Nian and Shen Cheng. He hands them an old photograph of the entire group of friends from all those years ago.
