The Lawsuit Backfires

A Clever Counter-Attack

The episode kicks off with Tian Tongdao's big move against Wen Zhiqiu and Chu Shaohua. He's suing them over their new "Oriental Brain Nourishing Pill." He claims it's a copy of his Western version. His evidence is a couple of misprinted ads and a Russian guy named Glebov. Glebov is pretending to be an American professor named Claudie, the supposed inventor of the original pill. Tian Tongdao also ropes Kang Erniu into a scheme to trap Wen Zhiqiu and Chu Shaohua. It's a classic corporate takedown attempt.

But Chu Shaohua is too sharp for that. She spots the trap immediately. She and Wen Zhiqiu huddle up with their crew: Xia Yuan, Xu Hongnian, and Mei Sandu. They decide to flip the script on Tian Tongdao. They learn that the fake professor, Claudie, is actually in Shanghai for a personal reason. He's looking for his long-lost daughter, Natasha.

This is where Xia Yuan's connections come in handy. He gets Yang Sanye to use his network, and they find Natasha in Qiqihar. With Claudie's daughter as leverage, they have him. Wen Zhiqiu calls a press conference. Claudie gets up and publicly supports Wen Zhiqiu and Chu Shaohua. The lawsuit completely implodes. Tian Tongdao is left with nothing.

The Fallout

After the lawsuit fails, Kang Erniu finally sees the light. She realizes Tian Tongdao was just using her to get to Chu Shaohua. She goes to her boyfriend, Tian Tongxin, and breaks up with him. He's Tian Tongdao's brother, and he does not take it well. He’s never been dumped before and refuses to accept it. Kang Erniu stands her ground and shuts the door on him.

With the legal drama over, the Oriental Brain Nourishing Pill is a massive success. Sales are through the roof. Xia Yuan is thrilled and wants to make his partnership with Wen Zhiqiu a permanent thing.
