Episode Summary
In this episode, Dai Jing hires her son to supervise her daughter's homework, a plan that surprisingly works. Tingting feels overwhelmed at home but rediscovers her sense of self-worth after Tang Xiaowei offers her a chance to work at the shop. Ma Yingjie's push to remarry backfires when an inappropriate suggestion leads to Tang Xiaowei injuring her back.

A New Sheriff in Town
So, Liu Guobao is in the doghouse. She bombed her exams because she didn't study, and her mom, Dai Jing, is not having it. The punishment is a week with no TV. Guobao actually takes it pretty well, admitting she messed up and promising to try harder. Her brother, Liu Guoning, is on the opposite track. His grades are up, so his dad, Liu Xiangshang, forgives him for skipping class and even cooks him a huge seafood dinner.
But Dai Jing has a bigger plan for Guobao's academic future. She tries to get tough on her daughter's study habits, but Guobao just isn't interested. She avoids the homework her mom gives her and even convinces Guoning to help her lie about it. When Dai Jing finds out, she's furious. She and Liu Xiangshang cook up a wild new strategy. They decide to use some good old-fashioned sibling hierarchy.
Here's the deal. They offer to pay Liu Guoning fifty yuan a day to supervise his little sister. He's officially on the payroll. If Guobao skips her homework, sneaks TV time, or gets on her phone, the money gets docked from his pay. Guoning, seeing a solid business opportunity, immediately agrees.
Brother vs. Sister
You can probably guess how Guobao feels about this. She's angry and feels totally betrayed by her brother. But Guoning has a surprisingly effective method for his new management role. He just has their mom lock both of them in a room together. The door doesn't open until Guobao's homework is finished. It's harsh, but it works. Guobao has no choice but to do the work.
Dai Jing is thrilled. Her "bloodline" strategy is a success. She's so confident in her new system that when a Mr. Zhu invites her and Liu Xiangshang out for dinner, she isn't worried. Liu Xiangshang is hesitant about leaving the kids, but Dai Jing believes Guoning has the situation completely under control.
Tingting Hits a Wall
Overwhelmed at Home
Things are not going so well for Tingting. Lao Yang's nanny is on vacation, leaving Tingting alone to manage two kids. She's completely overwhelmed. After taking a fall by accident, she starts to spiral into self-doubt, feeling useless.
Lao Yang notices how down she is. He goes to see Tang Xiaowei with an idea. He asks if Tingting could come back to work at the shop sometimes. He thinks it would be good for her to have something to do besides childcare. Tang Xiaowei thinks it's a great idea.
A Helping Hand
Tang Xiaowei goes to visit Tingting. She gives her some money, explaining it's a bonus for promoting the shop in the past. Tingting is shocked and incredibly happy. It makes her feel like she has value outside the home. Tang Xiaowei then officially invites her to help out at the shop whenever she can.
Tingting is nervous about what Lao Yang will think, but he is all for it. He's just happy to see her feeling good about herself again and is grateful to Tang Xiaowei for the help.
Relationship Roadblocks
Shiwu's Money Problems
In other news, Lao Yang has cut off Shiwu's bank card. Shiwu is broke and needs to find a part-time job. He looks into online tutoring, but most of the gigs require a university student ID, and he runs into a lot of scams. He tells his roommate about his problem, who comes through with a solid lead. The roommate's mom has a good friend whose kid needs an English tutor. Shiwu is thankful and promises to buy his roommate a big meal with his first paycheck. Just like that, he's got a job.
A Twisted Proposal
Meanwhile, Ma Yingjie's probation period is over. This was a test set by Tang Xiaowei. He's eager to get remarried right away. Tang Xiaowei, however, is not on the same page. For one, her shop isn't doing well, which is stressing her out. She's also developed a bit of a fear of marriage and wants to keep observing him for a while longer. She tells him their current situation is working just fine.
Ma Yingjie wants more security, though. He then makes a bold suggestion. If they can't be husband and wife in name, maybe they can at least have the physical benefits of the relationship. Tang Xiaowei is furious that his mind went there. She tries to kick him but ends up twisting her back in the process.
The next day, she's in too much pain to go to the shop. She has to call Tingting for help. When Lao Yang hears about the situation, he decides to take the day off work himself to watch the kids so that Tingting is free to go help Tang Xiaowei.
