Growing Together Season 2: Episode 21

Spoiler Alert

This Forced Family Vacation Is Already a Mess

So, Dai Jing decided the family needed a vacation. She booked a trip down south for everyone, including her brother Dai Bing. It was a complete surprise. The problem is, she already paid for the flights and a non-refundable hotel deposit. This means everyone has to go. No backing out.

The No-Wi-Fi Getaway

They get to the hotel and it's this new place tucked away in the mountains. You know what that means. The Wi-Fi is terrible. This is a huge issue for pretty much everyone. Liu Xiangshang has a client breathing down his neck for script rewrites. Liu Guoning promised his friends he'd be online for a gaming session. And Dai Bing is waiting for a very important message from Teacher Wang.

Everyone's Glued to Their Screens

Dai Jing looks around and sees the men of the family staring at their phones and laptops. She's furious. She didn't drag them all on vacation just for them to ignore each other. She calls a family meeting right there in the room. She asks if they have a problem with her arrangements and tells them to appreciate this "democracy" while it lasts.

Liu Xiangshang tries to explain his side. This script has been dragging on for half a year. The client has only paid the deposit, so he can't afford to lose the final payment. Liu Guoning argues that a promise is a promise. He can't just ditch his friends. Dai Bing just says his "life's important matter" is on the line. Dai Jing isn't buying any of it. She's still angry and storms out with Liu Guobao.

A Squirrel and a Sprained Ankle

Of course, things get worse. Little Liu Guobao sees a squirrel and runs after it. She ends up twisting her ankle. Dai Jing has to carry her to the hotel's medical office. Luckily, the doctor checks it out and says it's not a serious injury. Still, not a great start to the trip.

Baby Fever and Business Plans

Back home, other people are having their own dramas. Tang Xiaowei and Tingting are out hunting for a storefront, leaving Lao Yang to watch the kids.

Lao Yang, Super-Dad, Is Cracking

Lao Yang is finding out that being a full-time dad is no joke. He's about to have a total meltdown. His friend Ma Yingjie shows up just in time for him to vent. Lao Yang is just grateful to have another adult to talk to.

Ma Yingjie Wants Another Kid

While he's there, Ma Yingjie sees Tang Xiaowei's baby, Shiqi. He gets hit with a serious case of baby fever. Later that night, he tries to bring up the idea of having a second child with Tang Xiaowei. She immediately shuts him down. I mean, they aren't even remarried. She tells him not to even think about it and kicks him out of the bedroom. His own son, Ma Ziheng, hears the commotion and comes out to comfort him. He tells his dad to maybe do a little self-reflection. Good advice, kid.

The Perfect Shop Doesn't Exist

Tang Xiaowei and Tingting are still looking for a place for their nail salon. Their agent sends them a bunch of options. Tingting is rejecting every single one. Tang Xiaowei is starting to realize her new business partner is extremely picky.
