The Adults Are Not Alright
Ma Yingjie Tries His Best
Ma Yingjie has finally figured out why Tang Xiaowei won't remarry him. She needs security. So, he actually starts looking for a job. He goes to some interviews, but they all end in failure. Still, Tang Xiaowei is just happy he's making an effort. She tells him not to rush and that finding a job is hard for everyone right now. It’s a small step, but it’s a step.
Lao Yang and Tingting's House of Chaos
Things are a mess over at Lao Yang and Tingting's place. With Tingting busy setting up her new shop, they're struggling to juggle work and two kids. They try to divide the responsibilities, but it's not working. Tingting’s shop renovations keep having problems, forcing her to leave at a moment's notice.
This leads to our first major blow-up. Lao Yang has an important work meeting scheduled. Tingting promises she'll be home by noon to take over with the kids, but she's late. This leaves Lao Yang stuck on a video call while trying to keep the baby quiet. He ends up yelling at his son, and the client on the other end of the call gets the wrong idea and hangs up. When Tingting finally gets home, Lao Yang is furious. He doesn't even want to hear her apology.
The Babysitting Disaster
Just when you think things can't get worse, they do. A worker gets injured at Tingting's shop, so she has to rush out again. She leaves the kids with a neighbor, Liu Jie. But then Liu Jie has to pop out to buy soy sauce. She asks the oldest daughter, Chu Yi, to watch the baby, Shiqi.
This is where it all goes sideways. Chu Yi’s friends show up, including Liu Guobao and Sun Jiaxin. They want to go out, but Chu Yi can't leave the baby alone. They decide to play rock-paper-scissors to see who has to stay behind. Sun Jiaxin loses. While he's "babysitting," the baby starts crying. Sun Jiaxin thinks his diaper is wet. He stands on a stool to get a better look and pulls on the baby's leg.
Of course, this is the exact moment Lao Yang walks in. He sees a kid yanking on his baby's leg and completely loses it. He thinks Sun Jiaxin is hurting him. Soon after, the other kids and Liu Jie return to a very tense situation. The kids figure out something is wrong and get out of there fast.
The Big Fight
When Tingting gets home, she finds the baby is perfectly fine and apologizes to Lao Yang. But this time, he is truly angry. They get into a huge fight. He tells her he doesn't need her to make money. He says her main job should be at home taking care of the children. Tingting has a breakdown. She can't believe he's trying to control her life. She screams that she doesn't want to go back to being a "caged canary."
The Kids' Side Hustle
While the adults are falling apart, the kids have their own drama. The younger students are all obsessed with collecting "SC cards." Liu Guobao has bought a ton but can't find the ones he wants. His brother, Liu Guoning, spots a business opportunity. He starts an auction system for the kids to trade and sell cards. It gets out of hand fast. One card sells for over 500 yuan.
The school eventually finds out that students are buying and selling these cards. A teacher sends a message to the parent group chat about it. Liu Guoning's little business is exposed when one of the parents contacts his dad, Liu Xiangshang. After getting the full story, Liu Xiangshang and Dai Jing give Liu Guoning a serious lecture.
